Instead of this absurd race to be first and earliest the national parties need to get together and straighten the mess out.
No primary should be held before April first.
All primaries should be just that, primaries, no more caucuses with narrow time limits and locations that allow only a small handful of voters to participate.
No taxpayer money should be used to hold primaries unless they are open to all registered voters, third party and independent.
No more allowing third, or even second tier states to lead the pack. At least two first tier states should be involved on the opening day.
I agree with you except for your 4th point. I firmly believe primaries should be closed primaries… lessens the shenanigans with non-party members ‘electing’ someone like McCain who was the beneficiary of ‘crossover’ votes in states like Michigan where the Democrat primary meant nothing (at least until Hillary finds a way to ’steal’, I mean ’seat’, them at the Democrat convention. I know it probably is not ‘fair’ to the independents, but either situation (open or closed) is not ‘fair’ to all.
