There’s a message here about the conservative wing of the GOP and its “leaders”. Hope everyone gets it.
Well said Billy Jack. It’s events like this that frustrate me more than just about anything else. Conservatives complain about Specter, and then appear as a headliner for a fundraiser for him. If that’s the case, then we definately deserve the representation we get. The same goes for McCain. No wonder the establishment can sit back and smile – Conservatives will lower their standards by listening to the fear mongering language of the establishment and vote for the lesser of two evils. Given a choice of two evils, I won’t choose the lesser of the two evils, I will choose neither.
Grover Norquist is a modern day political whore. Nobody respects him in DC anymore. He has sold out for years laundering money from Indian Tribes and Abramoff people among other things.
And now this…
His Wednesday meetings are a joke and do nothing. Nobody there writes checks or does anything productive. They all sit around to hear themselves speak.
Biggest useless group of wanna be Washington phonies out there.
Thanks for exposing Grover for what he is.
Surely Grover would do no such thing.
It must be because Specter has signed to ATR’s signature effort, the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. No?
Well then I’m sure that Specter has been working with ATR in their effort to end earmarks. No?
Perhaps Norquist is merely stumping for his new book “Leave Us Alone” and noting how Specter represents for the limit government views he touts. What? Specter represents the opposite?
Well then it must be Specter’s new book that has earned him Grover’s respect for his praise of taxpayer advocacy groups like ATR. What? Specter called them the “far right wing” and claimed they gave him cancer challenging his record during the 2004 primary?
Looks a lot like a modern day “generation of vipers”…….
I find it curious so many people are willing to throw out the term “icon” about Norquist when it is shared by so few conservatives. Grover is notorious for rolling over for the establishment, but, ironically, will throw fits if someon doesn’t sign his little tax pledge.
Physician, heal thyself…
Whore is right. Think tank/PAC guys are like TV evangelists. For every good one, there is a snakehandling phony who is profiting handsomly by selling snake oil.
conservatism in the republican party is dead…. it is time to form a third party….
I don’t believe it is dead….just on life support. I just believe that we are sorely lacking solid, conservative leaders to guide the party in the right direction.
The question is, “Who is the modern Ronald Reagan?”
It’s supposedly been on life support for years. This is like Charlie Brown kicking the football – it’ll happen next year, conservatives are told in perpetuity. Who could forget Rush Limbaugh telling us, just wait til we get all three banches of government. He bloviated on, if we get all three branches and then don’t see a real sea change in the size of government, then those who believe a third party is the answer have justification.
Well, Mr. Limbaugh, the chickens are roosting.
Another phony
I could be wrong, but I believe that Rush is as pissed as the rest of us are that the GOP did not do anything conservative once we gave them both houses of Congress in addition to the WH.
Remember when he said that he was done carrying water for them? It doesn’t sound like he was part of some grand scheme to take us all in.
the problem with Rush and Hannity and all the other conservative talk show hosts and pundits, with the exception of Michaels Savage and Pat Buchanon, they all became apologists for Bush. George W. Bush is NOT a conservative and he has destroyed our party.
for some good conservative thought from a Pennsylvania guy check out
http://www.joeleonard.wordpress.com
his commentaries also appear in the Pennsylvania Republican Monthly Paper.
All conservatives were hoping that when the GOP took over the White House and the Congress that great things were going to happen.
Instead, we saw lots of moderate-to-liberal Republicans jump at their chance to flex their muscle. The result: bloated government on a “grand” scale. I know if the Dems had control of both it would have been much worse, but that still doesn’t make me feel any better.
It’s days like this that make me wish Newt would have run for president. No, he’s not perfect, but far better than McCain!
It wouldn’t surprise me if you have never listened to Rush or Hannity.
When Bush goes away from conservatism, they bash him soundly.
Newt is who I plan on writing in. And no it’s not a wasted vote – I can’t bear to look at myself in the mirror if I were to vote for McCain.
The Specter statement seals the deal for me.
Rich, put yourself out of your own misery. It wasn’t the so called moderate Republicans who were the problem, it was Bush. It was Santorum. It was Newt. It was Armey. It was Boehner. Among others.
And Limbaugh and Hannity have been willing accomplices. Those guys start to get a little sparky only when their ratings start to dip as people get fed up with their turning a bling eye to Republicans being one wing on Washington’s predatory bird, with Democrats being the other. Free clue: Read the following:

If you read these books and still have the same opinion of people
like Newt, Bush, and Santorum, well then there is no hope for you.
