    Quoteworthy:

“Let’s call it what it is — organized crime masquerading as a state legislature.”

“Legislative wiener weasels want a special session to address “ethics reform.” What a joke. It’s time for a state constitutional convention to begin the process of decommissioning this corrupt enterprise.

Oh, indeed, such an endeavor could be a double-edged sword. The reprobates might gain even more power. But this is a risk worth taking and a fight worth picking because it’s past time for Pennsylvanians to reclaim their government.”

    Amen.

Convention bill is SB1290 and HB2714. Both are same language as http://www.pacleansweep.com/ccc07.html, both need to be updated so convention convenes in 2009, and both are in their respective State Government committees.

Time to get on the horn folks. Call your rep/sen, tell them to co-sponsor it, update it, get it out of committee and on the floor for a vote. Phone calls are the most effective way to sway legislators.

This is as clarion a call as “repeal the payraise” was.

As far as I’m concerned – the people don’t need to wait for the legislature to convene a convention. The legislature exists because the people decided what form of government they wanted – the people have the power to change it at will. Frankly, I don’t trust anything the legislature puts out.

Article 1, Section 2: “All power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority and instituted for their peace, safety and happiness. For the advancement of these ends they have at all times an inalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think proper.”

The delegates will be elected…….cold comfort…….as I question the integrity of our elections.

No, we don’t need to wait for the legislature, but it is wise to give them an opportunity to act before we do it without them. Otherwise, any argument that one held without their “consent” is illigitimate holds more water – at least on the public opinion front.

Alright, I’ll put the pitchfork and tar and feathers away for now.
