Stetler to replace him…

Mr. Wolf would do well to bone up on the 1982 gubernatorial campaign of Jules Patt, wealthy real estate developer from the Altoona area. Patt thought he could buy name recognitition, pumped a ton of personal money into high-priced consultants and early TV and was out of the race by January of that year. Altoona and York are not exactly political power bases.

Great……Wolf’s replacement, Stetler, was one of the PHEAA board members who thought they could use PHEAA funds for falconry, cooking lessons……etc. Nice. This is the man who will be Secretary of Revenue. What’s wrong with this picture?

“…In 2007, three state news agencies won a court case requesting that the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency make its records public.

Subsequent inspection of those records revealed that some board members, including state representatives and senators, were comped for luxury items costing hundreds of dollars, including golf outings, spa treatments and falconry lessons.

Stetler was one of the board members. Expenses for eight retreats billed under Stetler’s or his wife’s name and paid for by the state-related agency included a $163.59 phone bill, a $27 “1/2 bottle of vodka” from a hotel room mini-bar, and a $583 gourmet cooking class that Stetler’s wife, Polly, attended with four other women.

PHEAA is actually a public corporation, not a state agency, and none of that money came from taxpayers. Still, the spending drew harsh condemnation from news outlets and government watchdogs throughout the state….”

Rep. Steve Stetler voted for and kept his 2005 unconstitutional pay raise. He was going to lose his seat in the 2006 election because of this. He resigned and was replaced or the Democrats would have not gained control of the House in 2006. I see him getting this appointment as pay back for falling on his sword for his party to hold his corrupt 95th York City seat and for his corrupt Democrat party to control the House. He stole our tax money to line his pockets as a pay raise. Stetler quit his race after the primary because he was going to lose. He handpicked his replacement Rep. Eugene DePasquale who seems to be no better than him.

And why is it that Rep. DePasquale “seems to be no better than him”? Because he is a Democrat? Son, you need to get over the fact that your party lost in 2006, and your party lost in 2008. You lost, you lost, you lost, you lost, you lost, and finally, you lost.

By the way, how can a legislative seat be “corrupt”? I don’t think that designation can be applied to an inanimate object?

DePasquale comes from a Pittsburgh “political family.” In my books there’s something funny about that.

Stetler seems like a bad choice for the job based on his record.

As for Wolf, does Little Red Riding Hood have to be worried or is he headed for some run for higher office here in PA. Heck, maybe Barry O has a job for him in Washington.

PSEA, I guess you have a problem with Jim Gerlach, who represents suburban Philly in Congress but is from Ellwood City, not to far from Pgh, for one. Your comment is absurd and insulting.

    Snort!

That has to be the online equivalent of “nyah nyah, na-nyah nyah.” Thanks for the laugh, Stallone; now I have to clean the Pepsi off my keyboard…

Pittsburgh political family reminds me of Chicago political family like Daley.

Smells rotten. Gerlach has no such “family ties.”

“Because he is a Democrat?” Yes. There is a serious issue in this country when a whole party is corrupt. That is just the case with them (I could list a few but either some do not believe or the rest already know). It is also a serious shame when one party can organize a few clueless sectors of American voting blocks and call it a “win for change”…when it is really a win for the clueless, uninformed and uneducated. It is a joke, and anyone with common sence sees it.
