Allowing counties to levy income taxes will cause more businesses to flee a state that’s already hostile to businesses.

Most county commissioners will spend like drunken sailors in order to provide jobs and contracts for friends and family. Allowing them to levy income taxes will only encourage them to ravage the rest of us even more.

Egads. One more way to get into our pockets.

Every county has a heart and every county has an armpit. This is yet another way to to subsidize the municipalities that run their area into the ground.

    No thanks.

Problem is we have too many people – both elected and otherwise – who think the government needs to keep spending money and growing its budget.

Unfortunately, both the state and the feds are aggrevating the problem with all of their unfunded mandates.

“Luzerne County Commissioner Greg Skrepenak and other county officials across the state are pushing for state legislators to support a proposal they say could lead to lower county property taxes.”

Note the lead sentence says “lower” county property taxes, not “eliminate” county property taxes.

    NO and H*LL NO.

I like how this is the “tax fairness” forum. What is fair about taxes?

There is no fiscal restraint at any level of government…nickels and dimes make dollars!
