Funny. That idiot Hoeffel couldn't wait for a "gotcha" press conference then it turns out that his a-hole buddy Matthews did much, much worse and much more recently. Hoeffel would be dangerous, if he could shoot straight. He has jackpotted his partner and himself. How stupid can you be to hold a press conference demanding an investigation BEFORE actually asking the prosecutor to conduct one. Immediately killed his credibility and now with him saying nothing about what Matthews did he has proven beyond all doubt that his attack on Castor was solely political. I mean this guy is really dumb.

Hoeffel is the biggest tool in Montco.

Yep. Hoeffel got the headlines for a day. The fallout will show the damage is done to people other than his target. Maybe even Hoeffel himself. Glass houses.

Those are county employees in his office with him.

Move on folks, even if something illegal occurred the Statute of limitations ran out. Hoeffel is just being an idiot.

Marilyn – not only are they county employees in the ad, the last scene was from Matthews' county commissioner office. Talk about misuse of public office.

I wonder if we audited Hoeffel's and Matthews' email accounts and phone records while they have held public office what would we find. Nothing good.

No, Julian. Nothing illegal occurred. If something illegal had occurred, under the Hoeffel standard, every time some county employee exchanged an email about the Phillies or the Eagles they would be violating the county's email policy. As to the issue of the email being political in nature, Hoeffel huffed and puffed a month ago about a member of the board of assessment sending a politically charged email about Obama, but never alleged criminality.

Point being Hoeffel had the same circumstances in front of him. One he dismissed as a lapse in judgement worthy of a personnel reprimand. The other he holds a press conference and calls for a criminal investigation. Politics, pure and simple. Wasting the public's time.

Stay classy, Joe Hoeffel. You fool no one.

I was a Castor fan but I finally realized he is all about himself. he threw MMW under the bus and jumped in bed with matthews and Asher, even though he condemed them when such condemnation was convenient to garnering support for his AG run in 2004. bruce is all about bruce. I hear he is now teaming up with Asher to be Corbett's running mate next year. Bruce, I fear you are a political slut.

    Whaaaaaaaatttt?

Asher threw Tom Ellis under the bus to save Matthews…I happened to be within earshot when it happened.

As for the abuse of email? Check the email accounts of every employee of Montgomery County and you'll find a personal email or two. I find it less egregious that Castor used his email to say "yeah, you can help out on my campaign", than this guy, Moronne, Moron, Marrone (whatever his name is) saving emails between he and Castor for over 6 years, just in case he could use them to screw his former boss? How about moving on, you frickin child? People get fired every day and never look back.

Then again, Morrone has family members that are linked to Asher, so maybe the "save the emails" directive came from there?

Did or did not Bruce Castor throw MMW under the bus? Why would he team up with people he condemned as being corrupt?
    Bruce is all about himself.

Anyone else notice that Castor/Matthews/Hoeffel/Montco stories always attract the most anonymous comments on http://www.grassrootpa.com?

The MMW candidacy is a very interesting story. I wouldn't say that Castor Bartle threw her under the bus but they didn't handle the situation with intelligence or skill. MMW would have been terrific candidate and terrific commissioner. Castor Bartle misled a lot of people, including me, in that primary. I think both might have to learn there is a world outside Montgomery County and Bob Asher is not the only problem the Pennsylvania Rs have. I would have to think there is a lot of statements that a competent, or even a hack, opposition researcher could fine where Bruce Castor made some telling points about Tom Corbett. Corbett Castor v Toomey and ? in 2010 primary. that will be interesting. and all Republicans have to remember that Castor and Bartle, for whatever reasons, did campaign hard for Jim Matthews who betrayed them and all MontCo Republican voters.
