I am always amazed at how the only "choice" that liberals stand up for is the choice of death. You can't choose your school in a voucher program, you can't choose to own a handgun, you can't choose your doctors and your medical care, but you can sure as heck choose to kill an unborn child. This seems to me to be so immoral and so wrong. The culture of death is upon us once more and the Obama adminstration will force it down our throats.
Thank goodness we have a pro-life Democratic Senator like Bob Casey.
Those Santorum haters sure were right about him!
FYI: I voted for Toomey and will vote against Specter in the upcoming GOP primary.
Thank God Senator Santorum helped Sen. Specter win re-election. I just don't know where the pro-life movement would be without Arlen Specter in the U.S. Senate. Praise the Lord Sen. Santorum had sense enough to be governed by pragmatism rather than following his heart and his church teachings and endorsing fellow pro-lifer Pat Toomey. Thank God.
Well said.
You sound like a liberal with your talk about hate when all we did was disagree with Santorum. He chose to support a big government, pro abort, anti gun, tax and spend liberal over the more conservative Toomey. When he was challenged on that support, he told a reporter that we'd vote for him anyway because "we had no where else to go".
He rode the wave of conservatism to high office. He used us. When we neede him most, he turned his back on us. You can support him if you want, but I try not to vote for double dealing, self serving politicians. We didn't vote for Casey, but we sure told Santorum where to go.
Ok guys I am sick of everyone calling Toomey pro-life. He is a flipflopper on the issue. Remember in 1998 he ran as the pro-choice Republican in the congressional primary.
That said he was still better than Specter.
Why does Toomey get such a pass as a pro-lifer? He flipflopped on it. His saving grace is that he is the most fiscally conservative person to seek statewide office in awhile.
More irresponsible spending without a constitutional mandate.
VERY WELL SAID.
Where do you suppose that cocky arrogance ("Where else are they going to go") originated? I believe it started because too many of his constituents were starry-eyed groupies; people who lacked critical thinking skills and who pledged to support him regardless.
There is a lesson there for those who care to accept it: Politicians must not be the subject of hero worship. They are just men and women who are placed in positions of power and influence, who can be corrupted in and by the process. NO ONE IS IMMUNE. We must never throw our unconditional support behind a politician. We must make it clear that we are only willing to support the candidate or politician as long as he genuinely represents us and works to advance issues that are of importance to us.
Amen. Santorum literally thought he was going to be President by playng up to the social cons and being an insider.
His behavior since losing shows us why he deserved to lose also.
Toomey did start his political career as a libertarian on social issues, but as he explained in his '04 campaign, he grew in his pro-life beliefs with fatherhood and other maturing events.
I've heard this refrain from many young fathers; it seems very believable and sincere to me.
Actually, Toomey has been pretty consistently pro-life since his initial run for Congress.
First let me say that I flip flopped on Toomey. I was greatly encouraged by him but that changed after his loss to Specter because he seemed to let the Party dictate to him. That said, Toomey had ONE vote that was less than pro life. That was in his first year and was before he had children of his own. When his wife was carrying their first child, his attitude towards 'life' changed and he has been pro life since. That's education, not flip flopping.
Ryan, he used social cons to get to the top and then took us for granted. He then abandoned us when he felt that he had us sewn up. He then quietly moved on to other constituencies and pandered for leftist votes. That's what amazed me about the left. Had they examined his record, they would probably have supported him on a lot of issues.
It does not matter to people in SEPA if Santorum had a similar record to Specter. The only issues that matter are social issues and he was perceived as being far right to them.
I am totally disgusted by the crap in PA
When Santorum lost in 2006 he had 750,000 fewer votes than he did when he won in 2000.
Are you suggesting that liberals voted for him in 2000 and then realized that he wasn't a liberal? No, liberals never voted for him so they couldn't withhold their votes and affect his loss.
It seems to me that conservatives realized that he was not who or what he pretended to be and withheld their support in 2006.
And the Real Bob Casey turns over in his grave at his son who sold out to Chuck Schumer for a Senate seat……….
So…where are all of the Casey apologists now? When Casey was running, how many flooded this site to tell us how wonderfully conservative he was? What about all of their mindless drivel about how he was just like his dad – pro-life to the core?
What a bunch of crap.
Bobby sold out his dad's honor and integrity for something as fleeting as fame and power.
