FOLMER FIRST TO ENDORSE TOOMEY FOR SENATE

FOLMER FIRST TO ENDORSE TOOMEY FOR SENATE:

At Saturday’s Harrisburg Tea Party protest organized by the Commonwealth Foundation and held on the state Capitol Steps, Lebanon County State Sen. Mike ‘Citizen Mike’ Folmer gave a full-throated endorsement of Pat Toomey’s prospective bid to unseat Arlen Specter, making him the first GOP politician in PA to jump behind Toomey.

‘We’ve gotta send Pat Toomey to the Senate,’ Folmer shouted to raucous crowed which responded with loud cheers. Among the sea of protestors, which numbered 1000+, several anti-Specter signs were brandished.

Heck before this show is over maybe even Chip Brightbill will endorse Pat Toomey to get back into good graces. Mauree Gingrich better play catch up on this one if the she's the insider who wants to challenge Folmer.

Maybe I should hurry up and endorse Toomey… ;)

Actually, I'm waiting for him to announce his run for governor instead. Hey, a guy can hope, right?

The good citizens in the Commonwealth welcome Pat Toomey and will support him in the Senate race. We should have dumped Specter years ago. The elimination of Specter and the two senators in will be the beginning of giving our Republican Party a true identity. I'll vote for Toomey or anyone that opposes Specter. In 2012, we must remove Casey. You won't see it in local papers but nationally he's regarded as a do-nothing and our state is paying the price.

Folmer was also referenced prominently in the LancasterOnline article about the tea party, which was picked up Drudge Report!

He was a do nothing before he was Senator……the misguided who voted for him thought he would be like his father!

And sadly he isn't strongly pro-life like his father was. The son just isn't the same on the life issue.

To be 'strongly pro life' he'd first have to really be pro life at all.

I assume TanyaS is referencing Specter. I don't know anything about his father but as a Republican he's been an embarrassment. It's import we clean up our house by voting out of office individuals like Specter, Snow, Collins and others that DO NOT belong in our party……..For those of you that continue to raise the pro-life issue, I suggest you give it up. It surfaces only every four years. Why is that? Because its not an issue and the pro-life people try to make it one. Give it a rest.

Sarcasm back to you. If your intellect was sufficient the context of my first post speaks for itself. If you have difficulty comprehending I'm more than happy to forward you a lesser version. I referenced the need to get Toomey into the Senate in place of Specter the Dumbocrat. Looking to the future, many political experts are writing negative comments about Casey and suggest he can be defeated in 2012. He's a do nothing senator that rolled into office because of his name. Nothing more. As to pro-life, nitwit, I wrote that it's time to get over it because it's not a political issue and surfaces only every four years. Coincidentally, during presidential campaigns. No comment was made regarding a pay raise. Are you just stupid or do you write like someon that is when you post. Get a life and respond to what you read.

I'm impressed. 4 violations in one post.

I have gone back and corrected (not deleted) my post to you. I misread your comment and mispoke. I apologize.

Do you have a secret wish that your mother would have aborted you? Why do you believe that the life issue isn't important? Why do you want to deprive others of their right to life?

The life issue is important all of the time, but 'surfaces' primarily in elections for congress and the presidency because those are the people who can impact it as evidenced by Obama's recent executive order.

OK, that person is now banned. Folks, please don't use foul and sexual language on this site.

I kindly ask you all to keep your discussions focused on the stories. Thanks.

The Casey Kid, as my father refers to him with disgust, is a joke.

Another T-Shirt slogan for you…. "My filthy comment got me banned at GrassrootsPA.com"

There's gold mine waiting for you, Chris!

I am so happy that you are finally here to tell us what we should and should not care about.. /sarcasm

(And what does being pro life have to do with being opposed to the pay raise except that nearly everyone was opposed to it?) Ignore this. I misread the comment that I responded to. In reading it, I saw 'raise' and immediately thought pay raise. Mea culpa)

BTW, Tanya was referring to Casey's father. You brought his name into the discussion. Casey's father was adamantly pro life.

    I'd buy one!

Sadly, I've come to the realization that the pro-life issue surfaces every four years because the parties use it as a predictable fund raiser. Truth be told, I don't believe the Republicans are serious about protecting innocent life. What did they do when they held all three houses? Nothing.

The parties use the life issue to open the wallets of the faithful on either side of the debate……..that's all. That's reality.

  17. Posted March 10, 2009 at 10:43 pm | Permalink

Well, the pro-life issue has never been a make-or-break issue; it is and always will be an after thought to the general public, especially during times of economic hardship.

Does that mean a pro-life candidate shouldn't say they are pro-life? No, they should clearly state who they are and what they believe; they just can't count on the pro-life voting block putting them over the top.
