Perhaps to make up for this huge expenditure, the managers who never took it upon themselves to train their employees should be fired. While we're at it, their bosses should be fired too. . all the way up the line.
This is Customer Service 101, not rocket science.
Everyone knows that the burnt-out state workers aim for state store jobs so they can cruise toward retirement.
In the real world, retail managers would discipline, demote, then fire poor workers. The fine folks at state stores have so much seniority and union backing that it would be nearly impossible to fire them.
The folly of this story is yet another reason why they need to privatize the stores.
First of all, I love the state stores. Sure, they're overpriced. And, they're a monopoly that would be illegal in any sane state. But, I LOVE the clothes the workers wear. Once, I saw a state liquor store clerk with a new belt. The buckle was a highly polished Cadillac hubcap, and the belt was made of a bicycle inner tube. That made me a state store fan.
as you might or might not know, with State run stores they collect 100% of sales taxes, the chance of selling to underage drinkers doesnt happen as much if you had an $8.00 an hour high school kid selling to his high school pals.
so it might appear to be a monopoly but it is much more.
You're right. I haven't read about a drunk teenager since, since, mm, I can't remember. Was it yesterday? Or just earlier today?
And it is more than a monopoly. It is an affront to liberty.
What is really the point behind the LCB? I'm guessing it all has to do with tax/sales revenue. I personally like living in a state where I can hit the grocery store for some rum to go with my cokes whenever I'm in the mood for it.
