$5,000 ??? They should move to Snyder County. Our Commissioners gave raises last May, some as much as $10,000 and then gave a 2% increase for January 2009. That's not to mention the Chief Clerk they rehired, after he resigned or would have been fired under the old administration. They hired the Chief Clerk at $55,000; $14,000 more than he previously made. Although the handbook said he needed to be employed for a year before receiving vacation time, they gave him three weeks paid vacation in September, retroactive from the time he was hired. he they gave him a 2% raise in January.

Election time cannot come soon enough. Once in office, the elected officials seem to forget what the rest of the world is going through or living on. Or where the money comes from to pay these raises they keep shoveling out.

From a private sector perspective these salaries dont reflect today's market based pricing for the position. While we can and should focus on the increases the entire salary strucutre appears to be off base, especially the economic development group. I am assuming with increase at the level seen here that the economy of the County improved. ( a little tongue in cheek) . Pay for performance is a concept that must be embraced. Also, economic development as defined by government is a joke. To "create" jobs, they give grants, tax breaks, multi-year tax forgivenees,,,,,,,This isnt economic deveopment, this is corporate welfare. I am a capitalist and a former Officer of an Economic Development organization. It took me awhile to realize that we were paying Economic Development professionals for showing up at dinners, ribbon cuttings and check giving events. This scam needs to end. Yes, the salaries must be addresses.

Mr. Onorato just can't say no to his friends. He can say "No!" to U.S. Air by raising their gate fees six times, and driving them away. He can say "NO!" to hard-working waiters, waitresses, bartenders, and restaurant employees by driving business, tips, and wages away from them by raising their costs with his greedy drink tax.

Mr. Onorato says "No!" to everyone but his friends. So, who's really running the County?

This is Penn$ylvania at its ugliest.

The taxpayers in the T pay taxes so Pitt$burgh can be subsidized.

And the biggest chunks go to the Philly area.

We elect people in the T who allow this system of tax from the middle and give to the big cities to continue.

    They are our legislative leaders.

Well, Mr. McCall and Mr. Scarnati, do you have anything to say for yourselves?

And yes, lets not forget Mr. Philadelphia himself, "Edward G. Rendell, Governor."

We are always told that we must pay more to attract good people. I would like to know what the salaries were for these indispensable geniuses before they entered 'public service'. Did they 'sacrifice' to take the government job? Were they really being lured by a bigger salary to leave? We're they offered these great sums because if their expertise or their new found political connections?

Silly, Ray! Do you actually think it's yours? Where do you think you are? America circa 1800?
