Specter Murtha together
Lord willing he goes to jail, but the morons in his district will run to the polls to vote for the clown.
Yeah. All those racist rednecks will vote for anyone! It is amazing what a politician can get away with just so long as he/she brings home the pork for their district.
Hit the road Jack and don't come back.
We can hope.
Luksik vs Murtha in 2010!
Until Ms Quixote, Peg Luksik, pulls out of the Senate Race, conservatives should withold support for Russell. They are running as a team, which means still green Russell will be manipulated to the point of non-recognition and any resources that are given to him before the primary will help Luksik elect Specter.
Why do you insist on impugning Peg's character?
Peg has never endorsed Specter but Pat has.
Peg is not a manipulator and she won't misuse any resources for her benefit.
If they are 'a team', how does hurting him help her?
Why are you here? What is your intention?
Conesrvative Reformers have always supported competitive primaries. Competition and choice are the keys to improved quality.
Its simple Ray. The use of resources is a funny thing. I've done a good number of campaigns before.
Russell will need to spend very little money in the primary .But if they run as a team, the temptation will be to spend money on the primary to boost his teammates chances.
Why am I here? Same reason you are here I hope, to make our Commonwealth better. The difference is that I allow common sense to enter my thought process. I look at a candidate and see if A) do they align with my principles and B) can they win an election.
Both Pat and Peg align with my principles between 85-90% of the time. BUT Pat is by far the more viable of the two as today's polls show. 2% is not a number to crow about.
Pat is a pretty humble guy who I genuinely like. His viability, his knowledge on economic issues(which is key IMO in2010) and the fact that he has gotten Democrat Votes before in his Cong District suggest to me he's the better candidate.
The fact that having two candidates against specter hurts our chances against him suggests to me that Peg, the less attractive candidate, should withdraw
What good is having 2-3 'good' choices if the worst choice(Specter) gets through because of it
Specter is at 27%. He would have to gain 7 points AND Peg and Toomey would have to split the remainder evenly for Arlen to sneak by.
Not a likely scenario.
Peg and Pat will polish and refine each other. We'll end up with a stronger candidate and better representation if both remain in the race.
So, you've "done campaigns," but have you done simple math?
Specter is at 27%. In order for him to "squeak by" he would have to gain 7 points and Peg and Pat would have to split the remainder evenly. That is not likely to happen. Why do you feel so threatened by having two wonderful candidates? This is pathology.
I think you are failing to recognize a hugely important piece of the puzzle…the election is well over a year away!
The primary process will weed out the lesser candidates. If Peg or Pat (if he decides to run) are polling in the gutter, she/he will exit to avoid the embarrassment.
As for March 2009, the more candidates, the better! Let the people hear the arguments and decide who should advance.
The sad thing is that the people in his district actually like being corrupt, racist, rednecks by their continued support for him.
You've 'done campaigns' so you figure you know Peg's heart and mind. Yeah, right.
What you call common sense is the same practice that has cost us many elections. Rather than allowing 2 candidates to duke it all ow get stronger, you want to anoint the candidate that YOU feel can win. Articulated principle can win.
As this next year unfolds, Specter will continue to lose popularity. As that happens, he will lose support and as that happens, even his previous supporters will not fear him.
This poll from F&M is the first mention that I have seen about Peg in the MSM. I have to wonder why. You'd think that if her name was out there more that their candidate — Specter — would benefit.
There may be a time when one of them should withdraw. Now is not that time.
