The causes of extinction – from Wikipedia

"Most simply, any species that is unable to survive or reproduce in its environment, and unable to move to a new environment where it can do so, dies out and becomes extinct"

"dinosaurs did not diversify very much in the Late Cretaceous. Lloyd et al. suggested that dinosaurs' failure to diversify as ecosystems were changing doomed them to extinction"

I think that describes the PA Republican (dinosaur) party.

I thought the Philly GOP was already extinct…

No Morbius the voters in Philly just switched parties but still for Senator Specter. That makes them Spectercrats or something like that. Wait. Do Philly voters even know which party they are voting for half the time. Most of the voters were dead on election day anyhow :)

If all the GOP is is a paler version of the other party, they are already irrelevant so extinction is just a matter of time.

"If all the GOP is is a paler version of the other party,…" And that's exactly what the city GOP has been for a long time. Its leadership apparently bought into the leftist media notion that the GOP, in order to survive, had to become more "moderate," that is, adopt the beliefs and policies of the extreme left without appearing to do so. It didn't work.

Philly will eventually become extinct because of the business environment that chases good business away. Thank a union and the wretched politicians that encourage it. They're responsible for much of the deadly violence in the city and there's also blood on the hands of weak, so-called Republicans.
    Don't shoot the messenger.

…which explains why the Philly GOP has become a political after thought.
