I hope he's worthy of my vote.
There hasn't been a good candidate in PA3 in quite a while.
From the article:
Erie County GOP Chairman, Brad Moore says Lasher is not the only Republican interested in running for congress. Lasher and Crawford County insurance broker, Steve Fisher, were both introduced as prospective candidates last Friday evening at the GOP's annual fund raising dinner in Warren County, and political insiders believe there will be others.
Yay! I love variety!

Rich, have you considered running? This district has been overly influenced by the Erie left for far too long.
I'm flattered, but I'm currently focused on my council seat. (Egads…I sound like a politician!)
We've done some incredible things in GC lately and I'm not quite done there. I'm currently running for re-election, but I'm unopposed, which means everyone thinks I'm just ducky, or everyone is incredibly apathetic…haha.
Honestly, I don't have the cash or the name ID. On top of that, I'm halfway into a PhD and I am not prepared to walk away from it.
Give credit to you guys in Grove City. It's clean, safe, and very very very low on taxes. If I lived there, the only worry I would be of people moving there. I.e. people that taxed themselves out of AGH county and then start electing tax and spenders all over again.
Rich, if you used your council seat to get a small nuclear reactor set up to provide cheap, clean power for Grove City (Spherion makes one, comes in on a flat-bed truck and is buried in concrete) you could strike the biggest blow for prosperity in Pennsylvania history. Your neighbors could see their power bills cut in half. Then, you could run for Congress and be sure of election, since Ms. Dahlkemper still thinks wind generators are the answer.
Thanks for the compliments. Luckily, only the uber-die-hard commuters would move here from AGH. We're at that magical hour-drive location. The downside is that the liberals have moved into Butler County to escape what they did to AGH. As a result, they are now demanding that their liberal policies be put in effect there. We're starting to see an exodus from Butler County now.
I've looked into it, Bill. In fact, I brought it up with our engineers at a work session about three weeks ago.
The "problem" is that power in GC borough is the cheapest in the region by far. The wise folks on council a hundred years ago got into the electrical generation business. That has stayed throughout the borough's history, as well as smart strategic purchases for additional power. We just locked in today's low rates until 2017. When prices spiked over the last year, and everyone was facing 80% price increases, we only had a modest hike and we locked in the rates at that time, too.
Simply, we couldn't do a mini-nuke plant since it wouldn't be worth our time at this point. And trying to put one in under Obama would be a nightmare, anyway.
If prospective candidates were announced at Warren County, it is obviously a set-up by Ashe Khare, who collaborates with the GOP "leadership" of incumbent legislators and allies. This group, as you know, works against anyone not a member of the inner circle.
Last year, I submitted a prospective candidate to a meeting of the NW PA Caucus county chairpersons, a minority candidate, former military who would do well with Dem voters in Mercer County and Erie County. From what I heard, it was squashed. Too bad, with support and help, this guy could win back that seat from Dahlkemper.
How about State Rep. John Evans? I think he would be the best possible chance of taking back the seat.
We need a proven vote getter to run and sadly the two announced do not have that
Another seat we should of never lost
Yeha, pity McCain doesn't live there…
This coming from a Ron Paul hack wannabe…
Is Khare still meddling in the GOP? He's gotta be a billion years old…
We lost the seat because that pathetic RINO Phil English alienated his base by sucking up to moderates and unions.
In the end, the unions left him and he only had the moderates. Now he's a hack lobbyist.
We need a conservative. Someone pro-gun, pro-life, and pro-tax cut.
Good afternoon. I am Steve Fisher and just read through these blogs. I can assure you that I had never heard of Ashe Khare before I attended the meeting in Warren two weeks ago. I have never run for a political office before, but made this decision based on what I have seen taking place (or not taking place) in Washington, D.C. I have three children (almost 16, 24 and 26) and a grandson and I am very concerned about the future that we are leaving for them and others in their generations. People were asking me to run against Phil English last time (even Democrats), but I chose not to do so. I will work very hard to get out and get known and earn the votes. I have been involved in many community organizations and am also serving my second term as President for the Northwest PA Association of Health Underwriters, and have also served on three national committees dealing with health care reform. I have been in the insurance business (life and health) for over 25 years, with ten years being in administration as I was V.P. of Marketing for two regional managed care plans that I helped to develop. I welcome the opportunity to meet with any of you. My cell number is 814/724-0914. Thank you and have a great weekend!
Steve
Bill,
Your comment about the small nuclear reactor is interesting. They actually had a news story on these about a month ago where some cities were looking into these units as they feel they are very safe.
Steve
Brian Lasher is an amazing man and will make wonderful Congressman. He is so open minded, he is a listener, he is filled with wisdom, he has served this country by being a part of the military as well as by being a teacher. I have never heard him say a bad thing about anyone or any situation. This is the kind of man that we as Americans need in office. The kind of man republicans need, the kind of man democrats need. He is someone who can bring us all together and help solve the problems we are facing today.
A couple of notes:
1. CC Adore, thank you for the compliments. You must be a former student.
2. I met Ash Khare for the first time in April, and he is an asset to the GOP. I would welcome his endorsement, but I think the only way to get it is to earn it by winning the primary. That will also answer Dave's comment above about needing a proven vote getter.
3. The chair in Warren is David Bauer, not Ash Khare. He gave both Steve Fisher and me time to introduce ourselves. It was the first time I met either of them, and I believe David would have given time to anyone who had declared an intent to run. I think the closed-mindedness described by Helen above has also changed.
4. If you want to know who I am, why I'm running, and what I think, visit http://www.lasherforcongress.com.
Bill, I meant to reply to you last week. Aside from the state and federal governments throwing up regulatory roadblocks against these reactors and the inevitable ensuing thirty year court battle, I think it is a fine idea. I was laughing at you because the person you were going after is a strong advocate of what you believe on energy – you had no reason to know it, but I found it very amusing personally. You made some incorrect assumptions about Congressional staff…
Folks…you've now seen two candidates offer themselves and their ideas for your inspection…take the opportunity to get to know them. This is the kind of openness all Republican candidates should be offering their prospective supporters and constituents. It seems to me both of them have the right kind of approach to beating Dahlkemper.
Is Greasy John Peterson involved in this race at all? Please advise, so I can vote the opposite way. I'm still waiting for the information to become public about why he left DC, and let me tell you, it's not pretty folks.
<DIV>Nathan, sorry not to have gotten back to you sooner. Am I correct in assuming from your message that Ms. Dahlkemper is for nuclear energy? All the best, Bill

Brian,
It was a pleasure meeting you when we were both introduced as prospective candidates at the Warren dinner. I learned of your decision today and commend you for your compassion to teach. My wife has been teaching for over 20 years and I know that she feels the same way you do as she sees the progress she makes each year with her students. You are still having a positive affect on the future of our country with the students you are helping to develop and I thank you for that. As for myself, I am continuing in my efforts and a formal announcement will be made at a later date. I would enjoy having the opportunity to meet with you again in the near future to discuss your concerns and ideas to see if we can work together to win back the 3rd District seat. Please let me know when you would be available. My office email is stevef@byhamins.com. Thank you and enjoy your summer.
Steve Fisher
Hello. I wish to remain anonymous for this forum, but I would like to make some comments. To both candidates, you need to branch out A LITTLE BIT MORE than just the oh so apparent stuff. I see that you are taking on the healthcare, and that is a good thing. However, if you WANT to win more votes, then attack some hidden measures as well. Take on roles of other peoples issues. Speak out to those who believe in different subjects. For example, there are many animal lovers and owners in our area. I am sure many of them care about the animal welfare acts that are bestowed upon the United States. Try to help out your local humane society or animal rescues. Read up on other laws that deal with animals as well. Do your research and talk about them. DO NOT sound like a tree hugger though. Let people know you care about their opinions and interests. Be seen in public doing a “good deed” not just political feats. If you mention in your campaign about your family’s future generations, seem a little less selfish and think about those that don’t have families to care for them. Do something for those children, teens, and even young adults that NEED your help, compared to your family that already HAS it. I am not trying to be rude in ANY way, however, it seems kind of standoffish if you just mention your family and worrying about their generations, without mentioning those who may not live through another day. When it comes to issues such as abortion, and other “hot topics” make sure that you remain neutral on your opinions so that you do not offend those that have one sided views. Take opinions from all parties (Democrats, Republicans, and Independents) and see what they believe in and want you to fight for. Get your voice heard AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Do not wait until the last few monumental minutes to get out there. I will be dropping by this forum every so often with new tips for your campaigns. I know both of you very well, more so than you know, and I will be watching out for and over you both. I am not leaning more so towards either of you, and I will not be voting. I am here as a unbiased helper for the both of you. As always, good luck, but don’t let it get to your heads. You both are equal as of now, and you will be for a while.
Thank you.
Goodbye
Not a chance. Evans voted for whopping PA legislative pay raise. Tom Porter, Armstrong County GOP committee
I am the 3rd Congressional District Coordinator of the Patriotic Resistance in PA. As such, I am heavily involved in the Tea Party movement in Northwest PA. We first met Steve Fisher at the Patients First Bus Rally at McKean Park near Erie. He spoke on Health Care and received a standing ovation and a great deal of applause from everyone there. We were so impressed by Steve that we invited him to speak at the NW PA Labor Day Tea Party in Waterford, Pa. Steve received the same reception after his speech there. Steve Fisher is the type of candidate we have been looking for. He is a statesman, not a politician, and there is a great deal of difference! He is on the right side of all the issues. He is a Christian Pro-Life candidate. He is for less government, less spending and less taxes. He will help us "Take Back Our Country" and return the government to "We the People". He needs all of our support in the primary and the general election if we are going to defeat Kathy Dahlkemper.
