Did you have any idea that the Johnstown/Cambria County Airport was the only airport that was able, and ready, to receive Flight 93 for an emergency landing, if needed, on September 11, 2001? Yeah, I didn't think you knew that, yet you seem to wax authoritative on the merits of funding the airport.

At one point on September 11, 2001, air traffic controllers believed that Flight 93 was facing difficulties that would require it to land at an airport with a runway large enough to accommodate the aircraft. Due to the size and flight path of the aircraft during radio silence, Johnstown/Cambria County Airport was the ONLY option for a flight in peril emergency landing. Yep, that's right, the same runway that received millions of public dollars for construction (like virtually every other airport), and receiving $800,000 in ARRA funds now.

Unfortunately, the flight staff and passengers were not able to regain control of Flight 93, and it crashed approximately 15 miles from Johnstown/Cambria County Airport.

Perhaps I'm different from you, because I think it is a good idea that an airport would have been able to accommodate an emergency landing by Flight 93 (unfortunately, that did not materialize on 9/11/2001). But, maybe you believe that Flight 93 should not have even had the possibility of landing at an airport (if the flight crew and passengers had regained control) simply because the runway was funded by the federal government and a Democratic Congressman seeking those funds.
