    Act 71 / 72 of 2004.

A gambling bill rammed through the legislature without any debate or public knowledge.

    Who owns the legislature?

Tax addicts own the legislature. Any bill that promises to get more for those addicted to tax money moves quickly. Bills that might reduce funding for the tax-addicted move slowly, if at all.

Table games were always going to happen. Just look at the list of contributions to Rendell, Perzel, then Chief Justice Ralph Cappy etc and see how gambling was bought and paid for.

Next is the legalized sale of drugs, starting in Casinos first, of course, and then prostitution. Of course all of the tax revenues from these activities will reduce school property taxes.

Would someone like Metcalfe, Krieger, Folmer, Eichelberger stand up in each chamber and ask this one, simple question:

"Has any state ever gambled itself into prosperity?"

And now you know what's holding the budget process up… it isn't an ideological difference about welfare spending, universal health care, or education funding… Eddie's holding out for this. Lord knows nothing like this will pass if a conservative wins the mansion.
