Glad to see a majority of the delegation from PA vote against the bill including all the Republicans.
It is the worst bill passed by the House in decades.
Since Sestak voted for cap and trade__his campaign is doomed to end__In TV ads that are ready-made:__Joe Sestak: Tax And Spend!__
This was a no brainer for Dems in PA who got elected in the T and want to get elected next year.____Pelosi like our legislative leaders in Harrisburg was able to get enough votes to pass this tax and control scheme and give some the ability to vote against it not based on conscience of conviction.____They got to vote No so they could win the next election.____Politics as usual.
I believe Tim Murphy did also. Any republican that voted for this should get the heave ho next election, no ifs ands or buts. The eight that voted for this treasonous act are Bono, Castle, Lance, Kirk, LoBiondo, McHugh, Reichert, and Smith of NJ. I know they are from other states but we can at least send a little money to their opponents no matter who they are. If these guys had voted no I do believe the bill would have failed. I intend to let them know that I will work against their re-election and hopefully we can get at the very least some of them ousted.
It might help him in the Democratic primary. Specter is wishy washy on the bill and it appears it will die in the Senate anyway.
The problem is that these union thug blue collar Democrats will continue voting for these tax lovers. Murtha and Karjorski voted for a bill that will harm their districts more than others. Will these lose reelection? Probably not because their constituents are one step to the right of Marx and love the handouts they bring home.
Explain the votes by Murtha and Karjorski? They seem to have the most to lose in terms of their districts economy viability.
All the PA Republicans voted against the bill.
Two republicans not present so did not cast a vote are Jeff Flake and John Sullivan.
If only 4 of the 8 Republicans who voted for this devastating, job-killing, unread legislation would have voted “No”, then this bill would have failed. So what are the odds that their respective state Republican party organizations will still rally to help these 8 get re-elected?
Sorry, Jim, the odds are excellent!!
Must feel safe and will run on money being pumped into their districts by "stimulus" and other stuff.____The incumbent legislators who have been in a long time are expected to suck it up and support the leadership in Washington and Harrisburg.____The newly elected members are most vulnerable to opponents and Pelosi knew this and she allowed them to vote No.____
Stimulus passed because of the 3 Rs in the Senate. If the dems didn't have 4 or those votes to count on, which dem would not have been given permission to vote no.
My guess is that since they knew they had enough votes to pass it, these 44 needed to vote against in order to hold onto their seats. It would have meant somehing if the bill had died, but before giving any of them a gold star, I'd have to know that they stood against it on principle. Do any of them even know that word? To me, it's political theater to give them cover.

Here's the roll call vote: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll477.xml
I heard bits and pieces of the Democratic "reasoning" on this bill. Again, it provided an absolutely frightening glimpse into the liberal mind.
They really believe that raising the price of energy will create jobs and they propose instituting tariff's on goods originating from countries that do not impose the same stupidity.
In fact, this will destroy what little remains of our manufacturing sector.
It's the fallacy of the "green" job. It's just some pie in the sky feelgood way to disguise the ulterior motive…total government control of your life.
I heard there was money buried in this bill to provide benefits for people who become unemployed thanks to this debacle. That tells me they knowingly will destroy jobs, then magically provide the assistance to get even more people dependent on the system. I can't substantiate this fact, I only heard it. Unlike our elected officials, I don't have time to read 1500 pages of legislative dribble because I have a full time job to perform. Oh wait, I forgot, they don't read them either. Oh well.
Gotta give credit where credit is due: if Holden voted against cap-and-tax, he should be commended for doing the right thing.
Now, if he can just take back his vote on the bailouts…
If he voted wrong on the bailouts he likely heard about it from the voters thus his stand here. If the outcome had changed because he voted against it, I'd be more inclined to thank him This was expediency, not principle. The dems knew that they had the votes and gave permission to some whose seats are in jeopardy to vote against it.
But did Holden really do the right thing? Holden was the only one of the four PA Dems voting against the final bill to vote earlier in the day for the enabling resolution that brought it to a vote in the first place.
He obviously wants to have it both ways. There was no principle involved. He's still Pelosi's lap dog even when he must part ways on a vote to help her preserve her majority..
No question Holden wants it both ways – and I wouldn't be suprised if he is one of thise Democrats that Pelosi gave a pass to because he comes from the coal regions. Heck, he has demonstrated no leadership whatsoever in opposing this piece of…
That said, sometimes we need to treat errant politicians such as Holden like a dog: smack them when their bad and give them a little treat when their good. Sooner or later, they either get housebroken or left in the back yard.
Sounds like the method we used with Specter and the other RINOs. We can see where that got us.
He didn't do the right thing. He covered his ass and you are falling for it.
Congressman Carney and Senators Specter and Casey might wiggle and squirm to keep their jobs. But prior to the Mass. election they were committed to fine me, arrest me, jail me if I did not want to become Obama's slave and buy mandatory health insurance.
My constitutional rights meant nothing to them! He voted against the bail outs and won my vote. Then It dawned on me
that he only votes against his party when his party does not need the votes.
He fooled me once, but never again.
So interview him now if he still is going to push to put me in jail.
Or isn't that important now! Ask
him if he will change parties to save himself?
Carney only votes against his party when his vote does not defeat his party! That is how he tries to be one of us.
But he is not!
