In Philly schools, most students get a free lunch…

More "free" meals for illegal aliens. More money for crack dealers because mommy doesn't have to use her food stamps to feed her kids at all. Just buy those steaks and sell them for 50 cents on the dollar, then go buy crack and beer. These feel good programs are really compassionate. Shut the whole thing down or else confiscate the children entirely and put them in ACORN.
I want a rebate for my kids that don't eat those lunches because they are horrible. I know, because I've gone to school to eat lunch with them. It doesn't matter what you get, it's all the same. Cardboard flavored protein at best.

mmmmmmmm…
So once again, we tax those of us who do the right thing to "help" those who do not?! What kind of BS is this?
Free lunch, free food (food stamps) housing allowance, medical benefits……….these are all things that I WORK to provide myself with. I know how to solve the economic woes in PA….kick all these people off welfare, make English the official language and insist that they speak it (just like everyone else's ancestors who immigrated here years ago had to).
We "help" no one by enabling them and making them "victims." They are "victims" of the system because they choose to be.
I took my lunch most of my years in public schools for a reason.
This is just not an illegal alien problem. We hurt our cause when we focus specifically on illegal aliens. Instead, we should look at all the social degenerates, especially those who have lived in this country for their entire lives and still cannot provide for their children.
Instead of complaining about illegal aliens, lets get to the root cause of the problem by abolishing the entire school lunch program. My parents paid for my food plus the food for several other children whose parents were societial scumbags. If you cannot provide your child a $2 meal, you are a failure as a human being.
Glad to see that you are all spending your time in fantasy land. This figure about the number of children in the public schools getting a free lunch is a sad reflection on the state of parenting in society, but simply "cutting" the program as you all are suggesting will harm these children more than it will their parents.
Realistically speaking, some of the parents in question probably cannot afford to pay for or send lunch for their kid. As for the rest, they generally don't care enough to do so and denying the kid lunch at school further compounds his multitude of problems. The above comments that "any parent who cannot afford $2 a day for school lunches should not have a kid," "kick everyone off of welfare," "mommy buys crack and beer instead of lunch," or "tax rebates for those who don't eat school lunches" just border on lunacy since there is generally false.
How about offering real solutions up instead of what you're doing here? Obviously, serving school lunches for free to these kids helps the teachers because the kids they are teaching will be fed and not starving and helps the kids because they wouldn't eat otherwise. Isn't there something more critical that we can be arguing about?
Not… you really hit a nerve with me on this one.
Thursday night, I was driving home and stopped at the Wal-Mart in Uniontown PA to pick up a few things on the way to visit some family in Greene County. I happened to see a good number of these "poor" people who cannot afford to pay for their kids lunches in action in their welfare slum glory. Waiting in line, two families of scumbags checked out in front of me. Both used their Food Stamp card, but they checked out their cigarettes separately with spare change. Both sets of parents had tattoos and their kids look like they were dirty. How can I feel sorry for such people? These people are monsters who put themselves above their children as shown by their smoking and tattoos when they cannot take care of their kids.
We have child negligent laws for a reason. If these parents cannot feed their kids and still spend money on their selfish interests like cell phones, cable TV, tattoos, booze, and cigarettes, throw them in jail. The kids are probably better off if they were adopted by someone else anyway.
Speaking of breakfast cereals, let's move onto more important questions: Ca'n Crunch, Frosted Flakes, Trix, Count Chocula or Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

Cap'n Crunch cuts your mouth all to hell…like eating sweetened glass shards.
Where's the official "Poll" in your post, Chris?
My many apologies, nittanyGOP. Here you go, start us off right:
[polldaddy 1762338 http://answers.polldaddy.com/poll/1762338/ polldaddy]
I'm a Cinnamon Toast Crunch guy
Frosted Flakes because They're Great.
If I had another vote it would go to Tony's Flakes. It was a tough call but I had to go with the cereal that makes my milk taste like cinnamon.
"Sometimes we need that extra little help as far as food goes," said Hernandez, who volunteers at the school. "That's one less thing that we have to worry about as parents."
Yes, don't worry too much about feeding your children. Just keep popping them out and let other people feed them.
Could not help but notice that on the PA WIC web page, it states that you don’t need to be a citizen in order to sign up to receive benefits. (Or has the web page states, “WIC does not require proof of citizenship.”) http://www.pawic.com/eligibility.html
RE: The poll below – Chris, where are my Honey Nut Cheerios?
I have a simple solution that would drastically reduce welfare recipients in this country. If you have cable television, you are ineligible for any kind of welfare. Problem would solve itself overnight.
Lets go farther. If you have cable, cell phone, tobacco, tattoos, or alcohol you are prohibited from receiving welfare.
It all boils down to needs and wants. Children need to be fed. Children need a quality education. Children need a roof over their head. Cable tv, cigarettes, beer, cell phones are not needs.
I'm tired of subsidizing all these programs through my hard work. It's getting pretty bad when supposedly it would be easier and cheaper just to do away with the qualification process and have a free for all.
This cursed redistribution of wealth has got to come to an end.
This is not just an urban or illegal alien problem. When I attended public school in a rural area, somewhere around half of the students received free or reduced lunches. Many of these kids have parents who are buying cigarettes and beer with their spare money while their kids suffer.
It is time for all of us to grow a set and cut this beast of a program. Parents should be forced to feed their kids or we should throw them in jail for child negligent. Maybe that will drive a few of them to quit smoking, drinking, and running to the tattoo parlor. Instead they would spend their kids on their kids. School lunches cost around $2. Any parent who cannot afford $2 a day for school lunches should not have a kid.
Nothing is as disconcerting as the mental argument over whether eating Cap'n Crunch is worth the long-lasting pain of Cap'n Crunch mouth. Despite this ever-present battle, my urge for sugar always wins out.
That said, the good Cap'n isn't really a Cap'n anymore since the Crunchberry Crew mutinied. He's merely a Commodore (and should consider himself lucky that a fishing vessel was nearby to pick him up after they made him walk the plank).
Ending public education would be the solution for free lunches.
How much does two slices of wheat bread, a slice or two of cheese, an apple and a carton of milk cost? Mix it up with peanut butter and jelly. How much does that cost per day? A buck, buck and a quarter? Give me a break.
I eat a healthy three meal, two or three snacks a day diet for around $60 bucks a week. I eat out sometimes, but not much.
Apparently, Trix are only for liberal kids.
Can we add high speed Internet to the list?
Personally, I get tired standing in the grocery line with my coupons in hand, waiting while the woman in front of me loads the conveyor belt with items from her WIC check. She turns around to the growing line and reveals an uber pregnant belly, professionally painted faux fingernails and the newest cell phone…………my advice: Stop having kids you can't afford! I can't afford them either.
My sons calls them the "dirties" and refuses to shop at Wal Mart after 1 PM….when they "come out."
How much does the free lunch cost?
There are some people due to no fault of their own that need help. But I'll be darned if I feel any need to help people with drug habits feed their children. They breed like cockroaches and act like cockroaches, coming out at night to do their deeds. The only reason most of them even have children is because they get high or drunk and have sex. A lot of them don't even know who fathered their children.
You can call me cold and hard hearted but I'm sick and tired of these people coming to the U.S. and polluting our culture, ruining our schools and medical services and mooching everything they can get . The worst part of it is, THEY VOTE and keep the system that gives them life going. If I was King I would round them all up and send them and the politicians that pander to them back to wherever they came from. And,,,,,don't give me this crap about how much they contribute to society. I see what they contribute every time I read the arrest reports in the media.
