"The Democrats in general, and Dwight in particular, have been straightforward in this process about our position," said Johnna Pro, spokeswoman for Evans. "The budget in this economic crisis we're facing needs to be negotiated and needs to reflect a compromise position."

Translation – “We don’t have enough Democrat votes in the House to ram through the governor’s tax increases. ”

They do not have enough votes in the House or the Senate. The Governor's tax increases were dead on arrival.

Beware because other creatures are lurking like the State Police Tax, Gambling, various Sin Taxes, etc…

"If the public wants a no-tax budget, they should very well see what a no-tax budget looks like," McCall said, predicting severe cuts in aid to schools, highway projects and social service programs. "All of thee lines will be cut, and cut substantially."

WAMS and Economic Development must be eliminated before any cuts in these areas are acceptable. We want a RESPONSIBLE, no tax increase budget, not a "PAINFUL AS POSSIBLE" no tax increase budget. WAMS and Economic Development are nothing more than vote buying schemes AND THOSE MUST BE ELIMINATED BEFORE ANY OTHER CUTS ARE CONTEMPLATED. We are not fooled by your machinations.

The hysteria is getting comical. One day the State Police will be going out of business. The next day schools will be forced to introduce pay to play. The day after that old people are eatting dog food. The fearmongering here resembles a fascist regime.

That's because they all attended the "Fast Eddie School of Scare Tactics" where they are taught to use the "Sky is Falling" approach to budget announcements.

Cut them and stop threatening. If parents want extra curricular activities for their kids, they can pay for them. Highway projects…..HAH….the roads always suck here in PA, social service programs…….cut them all. And while you are at it…….cut al the perks you guys get for "representing' us…….Budget fixed. Next problem.

Anthony Williams (D Sen from Philly) was on PCN the other night bemoaning the budget that passed his chamber. He likened the budget cuts to a struggling family that was forced to cut more when already eating mayonnaise sandwiches. I hate to tell him, but our government is not currently eating mayo sandwiches. They are nowhere near that point yet. We are still on prime rib/lobster 5 star restaurant meals.

The rhetoric and fear mongering continues. It was a niice attempt at trying to liken state government to a struggling family. Enough of the fat hogs feeding at the trough of my wallet. Get to work for us, not you and your pals.

The Dems will purposely draw up a plan that cuts important things and leaves Eddie's play money. then they will finally have a bill that does what Rendell has been untruthfully saying about HB 850

For Western PA citizens who are outraged (still and again) at government's lack of fiscal and legislative responsibility, there is a plan in the works to go to Harrisburg to 'lobby' the legislators.

There will be a bus leaving the Greensburg area at 6:30AM destined for the Capital on Wednesday, July 15th.

To be on the bus, contact Carol at 724-527-1806

You will receive maps of the office layout and training during the 3 1/2 hour drive, and the plan is to visit as many of the weasels who are creating this crisis with the "cut taxes and fees" message. You will be encouraged to target select legislators and the Governor's office as well.

The cost will be $45 if we get at least 40 patriots per bus, and $35 if we get at least 50 patriots per bus. So figure $45 and you will be safe. Snacks, water and soft drinks will be available on the bus. If there is any money left over, it will go to the 9-12 Project of Greensburg election committee.

For more details, contact Tom Altman at: ecoquesttom@aol.com

This is D Leadership's way os scaring and squeezing their non-tax supporting members into voting for the tax increase. From one extreme to another they don't truly believe in, the fact is they are turning the scare tactics onto their own members.

    Don't give them ideas.

    Chris,
I think that you should have used a picture of a chainsaw instead of scissors to represent budget cutting.

WE need to do more than trim around the edges.

The indications I've been getting from my "weird sources" in Harrisburg pointed to some deal this month or one later in September with August being the month when nothing would happen.

It looks like Option One is in play. It will be a July deal perhaps on the weekend of July 18-19 so the state workers won't lose their pay.

The unions don't support the politicians for free, you know.

I'll go out on a limb and make the prediction. They will have to expand gambling and put this Wagner "tax amnesty" scheme into the final numbers no doubt.

Watch out for hidden taxes all over the place in any final plan that spends more than 27 billion bucks.
