    That sentence is BS!

Suspicion that the 3rd Circuit has been Rendelled – confirmed although time served and $.50 fine was feasable before today.

My God! That's it? I knew he'd get special treatment, but I didn't think he'd get off that easily! He'll probably get out even earlier than that. And to think I wasn't a cynic years ago.

This is how revolutions start elsewhere.

Rob a mini mart for $500, and you get 10 years. Rob the taxpayers for several million, you get 55 months. Sweet.

The judge took into account Fumo's public service ? What a crock of B.S. The whole time Fumo was supposedly serving the public, he was helping himself to the public's money.

Our system doesn't work correctly because judges are political. The entire judiciary should be separate from politics. When it comes to politicians, I believe standards should be so strict that even a few honest politicians would be sacrificed from time to time. Politicians need to fear the people to the extend that any hint of dishonesty would scare them to death. Like I always say, "If they aren't going to respect us, we should give them reason to fear us".

Judge Buckwalter is from a Lancaster County political lineage, a GOP one, not a Demo.

But in Penn$ylvania I guess both parties are one in filth and corruption.

I sure hope this is the judges last term.

The judge should have to serve out the balance of the potential sentence.

Russ is right. Two standards of justice (LOL Yeah, right) leads to revolution. Not that there aren't other reasons already.

Another thing, you have to know that this will only increase corrupt behavior since the penalty isn't sufficient to make anyone think twice. He got a little over a year for each million that he stole (that we know of). Will he make restitution? If not, a million dollars a year isn't bad pay for a short stretch in prison.

They said on the news this morning that the judge said Fumo was "drunk with power." I wonder if politicos will have that listed as a new "disorder" that will require "therapy" instead of incarceration when you are deemed to have it?

As of yesterday, corrupt politicians showed no fear of the people. Now today, thanks to this fiasco, they don't even have to fear the judiciary system.

The sentence is a monumental disappointment. Fumo should have gotten a minimum of 10 years without the possibility of parole.

If anyone has an address for this judge, I'd like to write him a letter on behalf of the people. Maybe we could all write letters.

It's a lifetime appointment. So much for "merit selection."

    Rita,

Good news and bad news. The judge is a Federal judge.

Good news: It is his last term.

Bad news: It is his last term because Federal judges have lifetime tenure.
