    Can Sestak sink Specter???

This Changes Everything! I have to admit that I get a little sadistic pleasure at the thought of watching Sestak and Specter duking it out in a blood bath. Specter has the party bosses backing him but the Sestak could win over the Democrats who don't fully acknowledge Specter as one of their own. It will be fun to watch . . . from the sidelines.

Meanwhile this leaves the 7th District wide open. It's any one's game at this point. The Republicans have a couple surprises of their own in the 7th race, specifically the entrepreneur turned politico Steve Welch (official site: http://www.welchforpa.com) who's already starting to see some early traction. Could this be the year The New Republican party emerges and more electable than ever? Let's hope so.

I think Dav is right. Steve Welch is a sharp, electable, go getter who is already out there shaking hands and raising funds. With his own personal wealth, he's probably leaps and bounds ahead of the compeition. But then again, who knows. The Delco GOP has been known to sink a candidacy or two.

If there's one PA politician I dislike more than Arlen Specter, it's the guy who (mis)represents me in Congress, Joe Sestak. A pox on both of their candidacies. I agree with Dav & John G. that Welch looks like an engaging candidate. If Craig Williams isn't running again, and Meehan stays in the governor's race, he could well be the candidate. I pray for the day that we can be rid of both Sestak and Specter in Washington. In a cesspool of oversized egos, theirs stand above all others.

How is Steve Welch whoring out to Sexton and Co.? This guy is engaging new folks in the process. Yes I am sure he is courting the support of local leadership but is that whoring out? Cliff-Get a life!

This guys the real deal http://www.welchforpa.com . Started his own biotech company at 24, built it into a brand name in the industry and sold it to afortune 500 company so that he could start a non-profit economic development group to create local jobs in this area?

I'm an early supporter so long as Pat Meehan doesn't jump in.

I'm assuming Cliff is Dem Chair Cliff Wilson. And Lentz didn't whore himself out to Vince Fumo? Run scared, your CONGRESSIONAL seat is GONE!!!!!!!!!

Hope it was fun while you had it.

Welch ain't squat. Here is a link to the issues page of his web site. There is not one concrete proposal for solving America's problems that would make our founding father's smile, such as a balanced budget amendment, a flat income or retail sales tax, budget process reform….NOTHING. It's all the standard "we live in a global economy bla bla bla bla " … " I ran a business so you can trust me to run gov't like one bla bla bla"
    Not very impressive at all!

Steve Welch started as an engineer (which the country needs more of), built and sold businesses and is now seeking to enter public service. Boiler plate, somehow that does remind me of what the founding fathers envisioned. Perhaps you would prefer a lawyer or a career "public servant". Best of luck to Steve.
