So was he just using the threat of investigations to get support from state GOP officials for his run for governor?
Things are looking better for Gerlach every day.
Wow, what a disingenuous hack!
Bye, bye Corbett. No wonder the Republicans keep losing. This Republican, like others should learn from this and we will let our voices known next election..
Corbett …. just another cog in the old-style GOP leadership machine. Meanwhile, he continues to use the free-marketing campaign with all his drug and child porn press conferences.
Regardless of what Corbett says, he will have to put members of the GOP on the chopping block or risk being cast as a being a politically motivated AG – and lose all credibility.
That said, is there anyone we could DRAFT to run for governor, or are Corbett and Gerlach the best we can do???
If the AG fails to deliver new "shocking" indictments including some Rs, his political career is toast. When the original charges were levied including the televised perp walk, frankly, I was thrilled. However, given the amount of time that's passed and some of Corbett's recent comments, it's looking more and more like the corruption that is PA politics will prevail. It's too bad. For a while it seemed like we might get some real reform.
maybe the FBI should start investigating him
I have to stand up for Corbett here in this very negative thread. Where is the faith? As far as the FBI's involvement, how do you know their investigations haven't been complimenting his? Give it time. You are reading way too much into his recent comments.
Why on earth would he say such a thing if he planned to indict Republicans? Why wouldn't he stick with his old standby, "the investigation is continuing?" He's been investigating for more than 2 1/2 years. At what point do we realize he's played us for fools?
Befoer we all rush to judgement, let's wait and see who else gets indicted. He is obligated to follow the evidence and arrest those peole that he can make a case agaisnt. That is what we elected him to do.
He has been a very effective Attorney General who has worked to end the culture of corruption in Harrisburg. The investigation alone has done that and put hacks on notice that business as usual will not be tolerated.
Tom Corbett is a proven winner and has demonstrated clear leadership. What else can we ask for in a nominee for Governor? The primary will tells us his platform to change Pennsylvania which is clearly needed.
FBI
Having heard Corbett speak recently at a dinner, none of his comments about Bonusgate sounded anything remotely close to this. I don't recall the exact response he had to a similar question, but the point he made was that party affiliation doesn't matter, they are going to go after whoever broke the law. This is probably poor wording or presentation by the reporter. I strongly doubt he would stand in a room full of reporters and say that Republicans get a free pass.
No one would be reading too much into Corbett's comments if he had just kept his mouth shut.
But the clock is running for the guy – not because we want indictments of people like Mike Long and Chip Brightbill, but rather because Corbett wants to run for governor. He imposed a time frame on himself, so he has no one to blame for the criticisms but himself.
Stranger things have happened.
That said, my hope is that he is just trying to lull the hounds to sleep before he jumps them.
Are you on his campaign staff? Or just a paid party hack?
"Corbett, who has come under criticism for failing to prosecute Republicans while going after House Democrats in the so-called "Bonusgate Scandal," said he never promised to pursue members of his own party."
Ya know, I do kinda remember him saying that Republicans were exempt when he took the oath of office.
Yes, government size must be reduced Tom, but that battle to clean up ALL of the corruption is just as important no matter which party or which person is involved.
Why should we vote for you for governor if you won't do your present job?

I missed the self impossed timeframe. What is it or can you point me to where he set it please?
Neither. Just a person with an opinion like you. All I am saying is lets not rush to judgement and see where the investigation ends up.
When he decided to run for governor.
Sorry, but you sound like you are reading campaign talking points.
