Wonder how many will support this elitist nonsense while costing their neighbors money and inconveniencing the whole city for what is, essentially, an utterly useless pile.
Not many, but Luke "The Boy Mayor" Ravenstal and Dan "The Tax Man" Onorato will get to suck up to World leaders.
You two are pretty short-sighted. Costing neighbors money, inconveniencing the whole city…Wah. Just shut the doors and hope nobody ever comes in. If you had a half of a clue about international trade and economics, you would realize that a transformational economy, like that of Pittsburgh, would really benefit from having the leaders of the 20 most powerful economic forces on the planet come there. Your version of sucking up is some others' version of networking with people who can actually help create economic activity. But by all means, let's keep them out. I mean, gosh, it might cost us money and traffic could be bad. Please. It is that kind of attitude that makes most of this commonwealth an absolute joke. We live in a global economy, folks. Grow up.
Transformational economy ? I have a clue on that . That's where we send our industrial base overseas in return for cheap foreign made goods. It sounds real good until we end up with no jobs for the people here in the U.S. It works out well for those owning the factories and paper pushers but it sure plays hell on the common man.
hardsun,
Please tell us one way in which the G20 is HELPING Pittsburgh? The city will be virtually shut down for two days causing people to not work (no paycheck), business shutting their doors (no revenue to the business or to the city via taxes), all parking garages are closed (no revenue to the city). Not to mention the cleanup that will occur afterwards, which BTW, no one knows who is footing the bill for that .
The residents who live and work in Pittsburgh DO NOT think it's a good idea. But what do we know? People like you always seem to know better than us just what we need.
