How much longer will Corbett get a free pass on announcing any further bonusgate indictments? CasablancaPA has an interesting time line: http://casablancapa.blogspot.com/2009/09/biblical...
One of two things is going to happen:
1) Corbett actually is going to indict Republicans
2) He will try to bluff his way all the way to the end of the timeline
Oh, he will indict Republicans, and he will be surprised to find that he it does not absolve him.
Who really cares is he indicts members of the legislature of either party? His failure is that he is letting Ed Spendell rob the taxpayers and pay off his contributors every day and does nothing about it. How about prosecuting the payola?
I do not think the electorate is going to be too focused on Bonusgate whether it helps Corbett or not.
The economy will be issue #1. That is bad for Corbett. He has no economic record.
One of the most ridiculous things the Pride of St. Mary School of Law of St. Antonio Texas class of 1975 has said is that he could not possibly allow politics to influence AG bonusgate or related investigations because of the career prosecutors in his office.
The " career " prosecutors in the A.G. 's office are subordinate to the career politician who happens to be their boss by his defeating John Morganelli in 2008 . He controls their destiny and they will remain silent about his selective prosecution for as long as they remain in this office.
Ex-State Rep. Steve Freind ( R- 166), who would have been a career prosecutor , found himself unemployed after mildly criticizing a decision made by his boss , Philadelphia D.A. F. Emmet Fitzpatrick back in the mid -1970's .
Such courage is rare , especially considering the horrible job market for lawyers today. Even someone in the lower third of his class at St. Mary's Law understands this.
You right, Lecsey. And that dog is going to hunt.
"Hoeffel wins a straw poll…" and, no surprise, one conducted among the Democratic Party's kookennutta brigade.
