HOW DARE SHE?
How can anyone defend the so called right of a tissue mass to be a parasite — even a punishment — on a woman?
String this vile woman from a lamp post.
(Do I really need a sarcasm tag?)
No doubt that Orie Melvin is the PA Pro-Life Federation favorite.
Its Karl Rove Time in the Supreme Court campaign to determine which party controls the Supreme Court.
What I mean by that is the issue of life is being used to emotionalize us to vote Republican. It is being bought up at this late stage in the campaign to create a “wedge” issue that will drive us to the polls to vote for the GOP candidate.
But I associate Orie Melvin with Joe Scarnati and the GOP leadership in this state. Orie Melvin was foisted on us over more conservative possibilities for Supreme Court.
Her sister in law State Senator Jane Orie voted for the tax increases this year.
Also, lets not forget that after Arlen Specter went home to the Democrats, the GOP leadership in this state tried to foist Jane Orie on us at next years US Senate candidate to stop Toomey.
They finally made peace with Toomey. I guess realizing that Peg Luksik was the alternative made them come to terms with Pat.
My vote for non-vote for Orie Melvin hangs in the balance now because I am fed up with politics as usual.
Don’t let your emotions take over. Stay sober and consider the choice carefully.
Too bad we don’t have a Doug Hoffman to vote for here in Pennsylvania when it comes to the Supreme Court.
I could write in Jackie Shogan as a matter of conscience.
Jane and Joan are sisters, not sisters in law.
Thank you Ray for the correction.
I should take advantage of the extra hour and get some sleep.
Pro-life all my life is not what’s going to get my vote in this race. I’m voting for Orie-Melvin for one reason only: the Democrats are within a whisker of taking over this state totally. As bad as prior Republicans truly were, I identify far more with the current crop who, on the whole, have come the closest to uniting social and economic conservatives. In the main, the current crop of Pa Democrats are a smarter group. They’re also lefties, for the most part, and further advancement of an already too leftist set of core policies is unacceptable. Bottom line: a 4-3 Repu lican Supreme Court tops a 4-3 Democrat Supreme Court.
Orie-Melvin's position for Judicial ethics Reform is the best reason to vote for Orie-Melvin If you heard her on PCN it was a lock-in convince to infomed voters. All the other good reasons – she the best qualified, she follows the law, etc are important as well but her ethics reform platform seals the deal.
This is the strongest reason to vote for Orie Melvin. CardCarryPSEA has good points. and I think "guest" makes a good point about ethics reform. The Luzerne County debacle is sickening. How does this happen. The Judicial Conduct Board was on notice that something was not right in Luzerne County and the FBI figured it out. But not before gross assault on the Rule of Law.
Mr. Guzzardi makes an excellent point as well. It is far from certain that the devastating assault on the rule of law in Luzerne can be righted in a lifetime. Was it inability? Unwillingness? How in the world could that have gone on for so long?
Panela's ties to the Judicial Conduct Board are troubling.
A fundamental lack of integrity must permeate the Luzerne County Courthouse. Even the clerks had to know what was going on. The suggestion that there was no prosecutorial misconduct is laughable.
This is an insightful piece on integrity: http://www.accompligroup.com/resources/details.ph...
Where you will find:
"…We are each responsible for our own integrity; the best of us create environments that nourish the integrity of others. It is after we have contemplated our own actions, measuring how they align with our values, intentions, and words, that we are most likely to make a contribution of integrity to the world. Prominent thinkers including Warren Bennis, John W. Gardner, James M. Kouzes, and Barry Z. Posner (see "Challenge Is the Opportunity for Greatness," by Kouzes and Posner) long ago established the connection between personal integrity and the ability to lead; as Frances Hesselbein often says, "Leadership is a matter of how to be, not how to do." That kind of leadership – leadership of integrity – is what's needed now…"
"…Integrity is uniquely concerned with individual wholeness and conscience – the quality of being true to oneself…."
"…Start by acknowledging that personal integrity may not always produce behavior that others can easily accept. Three of the most-cited exemplars of integrity – Jesus Christ, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr. – famously demonstrated the strength of their convictions through spectacular acts of civil disobedience. By their nature, organizations tend to fear chaos and value order, rarely tolerating disobedience. Knowing how to benefit from internal dissent is a distinction of the best. Jesus, Gandhi, and King were phenomenally effective leaders – but they might not have lasted long in a typical corporation. Recognizing that, leaders who really want to promote integrity should not run for cover when it manifests itself in disruptive or inconvenient ways…."
In short, don't be afraid to shake it up, to confront conventional "wisdom" and/or destroy that which is rotten at the foundation to rebuild anew.
I would go as far as saying the support staff at the DAs office had to know what was going on.
I have a feeling the real reason nobody ratted on anyone for so long was the fact that Luzerne County has a "good old boy" mentality compared to the suburban and urban courthouses where someone would have spilled the beans because the mentality does not exist. Way too many people with knives out to let such a chance to throw someone else out so you could move up the ladder.
I haven't paid much attention to the judicial races because most of these jokers are weasels.
That said, what is this idiot Panella trying to accomplish by attacking another candidate for being pro-life? Makes no sense.
