This is surprising. In Republican Butler County, every Republican candidate in 2004 from President to State Rep won by overwhelming numbers – except Jeane Craige Pepper, who lost 54% – 43%. What is different now?

Asher and Gleason have chosen Cawley. SEPA County Commissioner, following the Schweiker model. Adds youth, charm and looks to the dead old man Corbett. A liberal NWPA female would be the death of the ticket, and even Gleason realizes this.

Oh, joy! ANOTHER CANDIDATE for Lt. Governor!

This is becoming a bit ridiculous…

She was running against Casey. Did as well as Santorum against him and spent a couple thousand. Santorum spend tens of millions. She still won 15 Counties.

Cawley is nice lady but is boring as they come. She couldn't give a good speech if she wanted to. Bush asked Pepper to speak at all his rallys in Pa for a good reason.

She's as conservative as Cawley anyway.

Speaking of Pepper, before too long, the Lt. Governor field is going to look like the Sgt. Pepper's album cover…. :)

Yes, while the Casey name helped, Casey is marginally pro-life, while Pepper appears to be pro-abortion – or at least refused to answer abortion questions. This assured a Casey win in 2004 in Butler County. If Pepper is still pro-abortion, she most likely will not carry Butler County.

I'm hesitant to believe anything you say for the simple fact that Cawley is a man…

Asher now has his tentacles and operatives in multiple campaigns. Cawley is not “The One.”

Where is Bill Adams? We have another passenger for his bus.

Are there still seats left on it?

If she is pro-life this is great to know. The speculation for years was that she was not.

    Headliner, are you certain?

Ryan and Morbius, as a result of your comments, one of the bus drivers (As you know, two huge Greyhounds are on a nine-month fact-finding journey taking the Lt. Governor candidates places where they can see, first hand, just what our problems are.) was asked if there's still room.

"I dunno.", he said. "The Lt. Governor candidates come and go. When we're going through a place with TV coverage, the buses are full. When we're out in the sticks, there's only Billy Perkins, the 600 pound candidate who wants 'to finally represent Pennsylvania's victims of obesity' and a couple others."

He also explained: "We'd have plenty of room if there were only the candidates, but each one is authorized to be accompanied by two flunkies and a hack. They bring family, friends, and significant others. Sometimes, we end up with the hacks sitting on plastic chairs bolted to the tops of the buses."

Criteria for the LT Gov spot, dark hair, and be from any part of the state east of Altoona! Anyone in the PGH area that thinks they have a shot should call Sam Rohrer.

To the borrow the words from 1992, 'it's the economy stupid'. Voters agenda items are econ right now and less social issues.

  19. Posted November 9, 2009 at 6:03 pm | Permalink

I do not know. I think Bill will have to see about getting a third bus. Pretty soon they might need to look at renting a train.

  20. Posted November 9, 2009 at 6:04 pm | Permalink

I think they need to contact Amtrak and see if they can rent a train to carry the candidates to every far flung town in the state that has a railroad track.

  21. Posted November 9, 2009 at 6:11 pm | Permalink

This election will largely be about the economy, but in some parts of Pennsylvania its been depressed for decades so nobody has noticed its collapse.

  22. Posted November 9, 2009 at 6:37 pm | Permalink

I’m not so sure – 40 Dems were willing to buck their own party on the abortion issue this weekend. If this wasn’t important, they could have voted against the Stupak Amendment and not worried about the political fallout in their own districts.

Ryan, as much as some would disagree you're right. There are some areas of the State that are so dead that's the only thing left. Voting Pro-Life and Pro-Gun and that's all that matters. In bigger picture, those pockets are voters are small but they are there. Sure, you'll run up 65% of the vote in (put in random rural T county here) but it only gives you 1,000 vote margin. The battle lies in the Philly Burbs like Monco, Delware, Bucks, and Chester.

Disclosure: While more concerned with the economy, I am solid Pro 2nd Amendment Voter.

    Jim,

Dem's did a great job of recruiting moderate and even rather conservatives people to run in Red States and Red Districts. They are people that may not fit their districts 100% but maybe 60 to 75%. So if you're a Democrat sitting in a District that went Bush '00 Bush '04 and McCain '08, and you're concerned about 2010. You'd be wise to to support the amendment.

Funny I don't recall Pepper speaking at any Bush Rallies. Maybe I'm wrong but just don't recall it. And as Ed pointed out. Cawley is MAN MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN. Geese get with it Pepper pushers.

  26. Posted November 9, 2009 at 10:23 pm | Permalink

Pepper spoke at quite a few Bush rallies and worked very hard. She’s capable, intelligent and the mother of two sons. She has helped many Republicans over quite a number of years.

From what I've seen thus far, Nick is the only one with the fire in the belly.

  28. Posted November 10, 2009 at 11:04 am | Permalink

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't she the one who refused to answer any questions of where she stood on the issues the last time?

  30. NO NICK
    Posted November 10, 2009 at 2:02 pm | Permalink

Snyder_Girl, if you are a good conservative or even just slightly ethical, you cannot possibly be a fan of nick d. Major tax-hiker, deal-cutter, has driven Dauphin County into very bad shape financially with severe fiscal mismanagement. our bond rating has plummeted, our taxes have skyrocketed…nick has greased his many friends with no-bid contracts, including powerbroker/lobbyist Stan Rapp who supports Democrats including Tim Holden and Dan Onorato
Nick is corrupt to the core and not the guy we want on a ticket with a Corbett who's whole schtick is fighting corruption.
Trust me, that would be bad. NO NICK DIFRANCESCO!!!

  31. Posted November 11, 2009 at 1:20 am | Permalink

I can honestly say I have met him three times, and he has the fire in the belly that is needed to win. Other than that I have not seen anyone overly eager. As far as info, I was tied up in the 2009 judge races and I am now ready to move onto 2010.

What makes her think she is qualified to be a Lt. Gov? just because she has money to throw around doesnt mean she needs to waste it by muddying up an already overcrowded field. She has 0% shot at making it, yet she will still run and further distract voters from the issues at hand. PA is in bad fiscal shape and needs some serious, effective governing.

Being a passive Financial advisor for a small pension fund does not qualify one for a senior executive role in one of the union's largest states.

Dedicated Conservative for Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania

The foundation of our campaign is Respect… for older Pennsylvanians, for our precious freedoms, and especially… YOU!

    Let me explain:
    Respect for Older Pennsylvanians

My mother passed away in part due to careless treatment by an assisted living facility, and much of the passion I feel for my campaign is driven by that singular event.

More effective oversight is needed to make sure what happened to my mother will not happen to your loved ones, who must always have the respect and love they deserve.

Please log on http://www.BillyMcCue.com to learn more…

    Respect for our Precious Freedoms
Pennsylvania is the cradle of liberty, where America's principles were first forged. We must unite in respect for our freedoms, which are being constantly eroded by expanding government.

    Respect for Openness and Transparency
Our elected officials live in an impenetrable world few understand. It is vital that we take control over the process and its results, and the first thing to do is shine the bright light of publicity on the shenanigans.

    Why Lieutenant Governor?
Because it delivers a bully pulpit to its holder, giving us the power to promote our most deeply held values and ideas.

Thank you for at least taking the time to learn something about our campaign.
