    Praying that it is DOA.

""One of the ideas I'm pushing is jail sentences for people who engage in Medicare and Medicaid fraud," Specter said during his interview. "If you impose a fine, it's part of the cost of doing business. I learned from my days as district attorney of this city, jail sentences make an impact on people."

Pelosi must have taken a lesson from Specter. She want to imprison people who don't buy health insurance.

Nancy, given that line of thinking, instead of providing welfare and food stamps and housing to millions and millions of people, why did we not jail them instead?

If it is 'unfair' for me to not buy an insurance policy that I may never need, why wasn't it unfair for people to be given money and food and housing who (in many cases) refused to provide those necessities for themselves?

Sending a few congress critters to jail for their misdeeds isn't enough. We need to start executing those who betray their oath to protect and defend the Constitution. I've learned that the chance of jail time is just a cost of doing business. Hanging them would impress upon the rest of them that we are serious.

    Right on, Ray! Nicely written!

    Here, here Ray!
I heard Obama say that it's not fair that people not pay for HC and instead have others foot the bill when they get sick.
Like Ray says, which was my thoughts at that moment, what about all the people living on welfare, and cheating disability (I'm not talking about the truly disabled who cannot care for themselves) and living, for generations no less, in public housing?
This bill is blatantly un constitutional. There is simply no allowance for Congress to mandate everyone buy anything, let alone HC.
The only way it can sneak past the Constitution (which is bad enough) is to make it like SS and Medicare, which are taxes that just happen to entitle you to benefits, if some bureaucrat says you are. remember even the USSC has ruled no one is guaranteed benefits under SS.

    Thank you George and David.

How can welfare for anyone — except for the truly incapacitated — be justified if the act of not buying health insurance is a crime?

That's a good question but it will never come to trial as anyone attempting to bring it there will be found to "not have standing".

If even half the people who complain about welfare and other social service abuses actually voted or even advocated openly (like us) against them the pols would have no choice but to strictly modify or end the programs.

Even then, the legislators would be too scared to act. I guess that it is up to you and me to straighten this out.
