This plan will make tickets along the 50 yard line worth about $130/piece. They should at least put that number on the ticket so that I am not arrested trying to sell my ticket at the amount I actually invested into it, not what the face value of it is.
Never mind the fact that this plan is going to price out a lot of people who currently go to games, yes Penn State has a 30,000 person deep waiting list for tickets but what happens when 60 or 70,000 people give up their tickets because they can't afford them anymore? They are betting that won't happen, but almost universally my entire section at the 50 yard line after the last game said that if this plan takes effect they will not be getting their tickets anymore, and that is just one section, I wonder how true that is in the rest of the stadium?
I don’t think the arrogant PSU Pres gives a hoot. ‘Says they need money. OK, it is a large University system. So, has he offered a pay or benefits cut? Just asking…
Just a little less beer money for Matt Shaner.
Hard to find a better reason for "No Sports After High School" for those willing to do something to avoid being ripped off.
Do legislators get free PSU tickets. There has long been a rumor about Penn State perks for legislators. Anybody know if there is any truth to the rumor?
Last game versus Indiana before kickoff, I saw a guy with a State House of Representatives jacket going towards the club boxes. Recognized him from PCN but can't remember his name.
And after the game while tailgating on the paved lots just over the hill from Gate B, my son almost hit Todd Platts square in the back of the head with a football. He moved at the very last second to avoid it.
We are guests on Chis' great grassrootspa website. Don't pick on his team. Pick on the admistration, back office, etc. Anything you want other than the team. Picking on the team would be impolite to Chris L , our web host
When Penn State football's main draw (meaning Joe Paterno) is gone, then PSU is going to have a big wake-up call.
Because football mediocrity in both schedule and play will not fill the seats, and nor will Paterno's replacement.
And let's look at strength of schedule and success of programs, as well as player development across all positions.
Are we getting our monies worth with PSU football compared to Ohio State? I think not !!
What we have here is an exercise in free market economics. PSU is measuring the elasticity of demand for their football tickets. Of course, they're betting on a relatively inelastic (no / minimal effect on sales) result, but we shall see. No doubt they recognize the importance of Joe Pa to the program. They're just trying to maximize revenue.
