About time someone got into this race. I like Malcolm Derk. He controls spending in Snyder county- unlike Chris Carney who gives it away like its going out of style.

Interesting news. County Commissioners have a different experience than legislators, but maybe that's a good thing? He seems like a potential serious candidate. Hopefully we will learn more.

Look forward to knowing more about him. Any bio information available?

I got my bio information from his Snyder County Commissioner website: http://www.malcolmderk.com – he does a great job in Snyder County – I've met him a few times – I think he's a really solid candidate.

He got beat handily in a primary by payjacker Russ Fairchild.

The good thing for county residents is that he is running against Carney. The bad thing is if he doesn't win, the taxpayers are stuck with him for another two years. He has made no positive steps in the county economy, is not liked by employees and has no expierence at all.

    Finally a candidate.

Carney claims to be a blue dog but he toes the line for Pelosi. We need to get rid of Carney. At this point in time anybody is better than Carney.

You are right . . . if voters want more info . . . there will be plenty to come.

Perhaps you should look into Derk's record and comments. We could get worse than we have.

It does not bother you he ran his last campaign on Barbara Hafer money?

It truly never ends with you, Irene, does it? I'm sure we'll all hear more from you, and I'm sure most if it will not be truth.

As for Malcolm's record and comments, they are available to the public. He's held himself to the principles he campaigned on, which is something that few elected officials can say. If you want someone who will compromise their values to corporations like your favorite Boscov's, then Malcolm's the wrong guy.

Barbara Hafer money – so what? Personally, I'd be more bothered if he were taking money from people like you. Malcolm has had broad support. That's not a bad thing. Plus, he's been able to keep that support and has not changed his views in exchange for Hafer's money.

Looking forward to hearing more of your gossip about Derk. I think Snyder county's at least used to it by now. And on the brink of FED UP with it too.

Malcolm has no experience, no "REAL LIFE" experience. Has never seen battle. Has never had to do anything in his life. His only goal in life is to be a fat-cat politician. I spoke to him when he was president of the Freeburg Boro Council about real issues and he didn't want to hear it. He is spineless, a follower, he is not a good choice for anything, except maybe bagging groceries. I feel strongly that he doesn't hold any public office, because he has no idea what goes on with the world.
We need someone who would be willing to take risks, stand up for the little guy against big pharma, and big oil companies. We need to get back to the way life was when we were on top. We need to get our children home from Iraq and Afganistan. We need to create jobs here in PA, heaven knows we have the resources. We need to get rid of all people who become politicians just for the sake of becoming politicians. We need people with back bones, and morals. Neither Carney or Derk fit what we need.

How much experience do you need to have to see that you cannot spend more than you make? I know I am crazy but how hard is to see that you need to balance your budget every year? Or that our federal deficit is getting so large that it will soon become nearly impossible to pay back without inflating our Dollar. How much education does it take to see that the current health care bill being considered in congress is unconstitutional or that the bailouts and stimulus packages ended up being nothing more that a huge waste of money? My point is that we do not need a canidate with a doctorate degree from Harvard university to run for office. We need a person with principles, morals and values. A canidate that will actually uphold the constitution and practice fiscal discipline. Vote for Malcolm Derk for the 10th congressional district of PA!!

Do you have to serve in war to be a congressman now? I know Malcolm, and he has served society in many other ways, including being a guest pastor at churches, and taking service trips to 3rd world countries. Military service is honorable, but it isn't the only way one can serve their country.

Carney served in the military, but that didn't help him when considering what to do on the Iraq surge. He voted against it when it now has clearly saved lives. Just being in the military doesn't mean you make the right decisions regarding the military.

Malcolm Derk has experience balancing budgets, not raising taxes, and refusing bailouts. He is what our district (and our country) needs.

I can't believe we are allowing Carney to get another free ride??

This is a republican district WTH???

Peifer is not running I see and current crop is not top tier

I like Gene Yaw for race but is their anyone else considering???

Malcolm has NO FRIGGEN EXPERIENCE whatsoever. He let the Freeburg employees run all over him. He went to school for Religion and Politics. Religion has NO PLACE in politics.
He has NEVER had a real job, doesn't know what it's like to be hungry, or exhausted from work, and doesn't have his thumb on the pulse of Snyder county.
Carney may not be much better, but atleast he has had a REAL job. US Naval commander is a REAL job.
I have brought up several ordinances I believed were good ideas in Freeburg, and all he could say is "Who will enforce them". He is a know nothing, do nothing person, and I don't want him in charge of ANY part of my government. I spent 14 years in the ARMY, vote me in, have worked since I was 15 years old, spent a year over seas as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, have a REAL DEGREE, and didn't go into politics. Hell, I have worked harder in one day then he has his entire life. Vote for me.

I believe only after you have given up freedoms for your countries freedoms, should you step foot in the political ring. The military teaches Values, Honor, Integrity, Selfless Service. These are characteristics that CANNOT be found in our government.

Even the good get turned bad when you go into politics. The people running our country and making our laws are the lobbyists. Oil, big pharma, and car manufacturers make our laws. You want to help our country, do AWAY with the lobbyists.

DeWeese was a Marine. All indications are than he used public office for personal gain. Military service, without more, will not provide any assurance as to the quality of the candidate.
