If there is a pro life amendment added, that will give pro life dems an out for voting for the bill. Wouldn't it be better to not try to 'improve' the bill? You cannot polish a turd, so why try? Let the bill be as bad as possible and make them vote for it.

These pro-life/pro-abortion amendments are nothing but rope-a-dope for single issue voters.
And, sadly, pro-lifers fall for it every time.
The sooner and more often that you realize that, the happier you will be.
I hate the phrase, 'single issue voters'. It is used to demean people who are passionate about an issue and will not compromise their values. They have a line that they will not cross.
Sadly, there are too many people who will cross any line, accept any compromise, and support people without principle as long as they have the right initial after their name.
In this particular case, the death of this monstrosity of a bill should be the goal and making the bill more palatable is not the way to do it.
