With her late victory in December 2006 ( yes December after the recount ) she toppled an evil empire.
This seat should in terms of political parties be a Republican seat.
With the way Barack Obama is running things, I can see a Republican wave building for next year.
I hope a real conservative is elected in this district and not a RINO.
Rep. McIlvanine Smith is deserving of our respect and gratitude. I'm pretty sure I disagree with her on nearly all issues political, but the one thing we can whole heartedly agree on is that our state government is desperately broken. While she didn't manage to utter the "c" word (corruption), but you don't have to read too deeply to realize that it's the real reason she's pulling the plug. Way to go Mrs. Smith. Thank you for your service and your integrity.
Cry me river, baby!
One less commie in the legislature is one step closer to liberty.
'Glad to see her go but admit she's showed more class than some of the deadwood Republicans in the house. That said, who's next?
You are more a "Commie" than Quaker McIlvaine -Smith, whose family history is tied to that of William Penn.
You are a complete idiot and a coward.
Well said. She's a good person and a real reformer. Obviously, you and I disagree with her on political ideology. But if more legislators had independence and integrity like her, we wouldn't have Paygate, Bonusgate, etc. She is burned out on all fronts, from the reform movement's failure to realize real change, to the personal attacks she faces from leadership, to the loss of her husband.
