That's why these straw votes are bogus. All of the hometown candidates are creating a misrepresented vote count. In the end it will be between the big three from the Southeast.
There is maybe big 2 from Southeast. Subtracting 15 Chester Cty from Aichele she has 12 Watkins beats her 29-12. Johnson beats her 15-12 with Chesco adjusted out. All the candidates appear to have hometown support but they are also getting votes elsewhere as well. Aichele doesn't appear to be selling well and getting little support elsewhere other than with her own Chairman Skip Brion Central caucus 4 SW caucus 3 NW caucus 4? Putting Aichele in "Big 3" is a further spin stretch than her discredited push poll was
When it's all said and done, it's down to Cawley and Watkins.
Voters want an outsider. Steve Johnson is the perfect opportunity for Corbett to tap into the anger that's out there. The Tea Party folks love Johnson. The last thing Corbett needs is a self funding independent who can take away 5-8 points from him in the Fall. Johnson can bring these people into the fold.
BTW, this video is hilarious:

The big question is can Steve Johnson govern?? Regular guy, businessman….but can he play ball the way we need leaders to right now??
That's a huge question that needs to be answered and enough folks are not convinced of that of him. Great if we're doing a popularity contest or need to feed the angry mob…but we have a Commonwealth that needs steady, sober leaders, not folks who can fire up an already pissed off crowd….
Career politicians certainly haven't been doing a bang up job…
A fresh face makes sense right now.
Agreed. But is it Johnson or Watkins? Neither are politicians in the traditional sense. Both are businessmen, community leaders, family men. One's a pastor, the other a soldier. Both are committed to Pa. and want to lead it. Which one is going to be ready to face what will be a withering attack about leadership and governance from well funded Democrats who will put up their best team??? Corbett will need a person to fire up the troops, no doubt, but can that person also attract Democrats who won't their same ole, same ole…and independents who are not going to be interested in someone who is just there to fire up a base? That's a real concern.
Why do we need a politician to govern? WE DON'T! Steve Johnson is a soldier, businessman, and great American! What would be wrong with having a NON-POLITICIAN be our Lt. Gov. and perhaps Governor someday?
Of the estabishment stays out of the race it will be a Corbett-Johnson ticket winning in November by 6 points!
The way we do this is silly. If we are going to have an open primary for the Lt. Gov., then the general should be open as well. Otherwise the Gov. nominee should get to pick.
Think Eddie wanted to stay when the Dems took over last January? Hell no. But with Scarnati as Lt. Gov., he was stuck — and he was only Lt. Gov. because Eddie got saddled with CBK (God rest her soul) to begin with.
Oh well. In the end we'll get some stiff, no doubt.
Amen to the notion of an open primary. These straw polls carry very little meaning as an objective process. I voted at the NW Caucus meeting yesterday after all of the candidates had about 15 minutes to give their spiel to an audience that largely had their minds made up in advance.
If the Rep. State Committee issues an "endorsement", I hope the other candidates still run and run AGAINST the GOP establishment. Whoever has the integrity and courage to do this will win. People are fed up with being told what to do by career politicians and their puppeteers in the party. A revolt is brewing and the old guard had better wake up or we will see independent and Libertarian candidates in the fall and the GOP will lose. People are simply not going to vote for the back slapping, glad handing types who run on the endorsement of the highly esteemed State Committee. Get real.

Warren County GOP Chair, Rep. State Committee Member
How did this guy do?:

Bravo David Bauer! The Commonwealth of PA is looking for a CHANGE, just like most Americans, and the Republican Party needs to understand this at the most basic level. We want someone to represent us, who we are, where we come from, what our dreams are and what we would like to see for our children. There is a huge movement to get rid of government career politicians due to government mistrust and the Republican party needs to take some action NOW within its ranks to include and welcome "outsiders" (regular everyday people) to run for political office. That is the only way they will be able to continue to ride the wave to distinquish themselves from the DEMS.
People have been apathetic, but no more, they are realizing that their vote counts and is important to their future. The "Esteemed State Committee" members do not have the power to tell me how to vote, each of their votes count the same as mine and every other Pennsylvanian, and that is at the ballot box, not in one of their straw votes.
Real American – you say it all! I wish we had more State Committee members like David Bauer, who also says it like it is.
Thank you from this PA citizen.
