Three retirements from the same region is unusual. Belfanti has been the #1 union guy, currently Chairman of the House Labor Committee. Will his retirement end the committee of labor unions?
Don't worry PA Conservative. The Union Bosses will buy out a few more legislators so that they can continue to get their way.
The state’s being killed by unions now. People in those districts, isn’t it time you ended that? Mushroom I know what you’re saying, but I sure hope you’re wrong, don’t you?
Stout also called it quits. He has health problems also. I read little into these two retirements other than these guys are not in the best shape health wise.
public unions are a disgrace. 37 1/2 hours a week, good pay and beneifts, warm and dry in the office. can't be terminated unless your'e really really stupid and mess up at work several times doing the same thing in a short time period. check the office of admininstration website and look for the contracts. during these times, when non union salaries are frozen, the contracts call for 2 raises a year. and they still complain. kind of hard to balance the budget when 2/3 of the workforce are guaranteed what amounts to 6% a year increases. not to mention binding arbitration and what it does to drive up the cost of running the state. each side has to agree to the arbitrator and cannot appeal the ruling. naturally the arbitrator wants to stay in business so the union will win at least half so they will continue to agree to that arbitrator. file 1000 frivoulous grievances and win 500 you would lose in court. the icing on the cake is the state paid lots of money for a private law firm to cave in on these contracts. now is the time to call out wanna be govs on their stance on these issues.
Another bites the dust…
To all of you who don't know Bob Belfanti, you don't know the difference between being pro-Union or pro-Working Man. Bob is the greatest Legislator in the history of our district and has helped business Union or Anti-Union as long as family sustaining jobs were the end result. He was twice named "Elected Official of the year" by The Brush Valley Chamber of Commerce. He ia also one of the most personable guys in the Legislature and a decorated Marine Viet-Nam Veteran. Learn what your'e talking about.
He's a Democrat.
What more do we need to know?
Bob Belfanti was and is a decent man. He worked hard and always treated opponents in a respectful manner . I may have disagreed with some of his positions , but I know this often rumpled looking legislator whose word was his bond , was the opposite of the blow -dried slicksters whose promises were honored for about 15 minutes . I am truly sorry if it is true that he is in poor health .
Bob Belfanti was a good man? Why did he release to the news media how much he was opposed to legislator pay increases and then accept his? Why did he parade around in his boy scout uniform the summer before election campaigns? Why did he stick the taxpayers with the maximum in per diem when he lived a short distance? Why did he stick the taxpayers for the maximum in a car lease like a luxury SUV? Why was he absent at times when an important vote was coming up which would pit him against the party? Yes, he was such a good man.
Many told him of how he was damaging his health with his smoking and drinking. Why didn't he quit?
