I consider myself to be a moderate Republican, even independent in some respects. Specter has lost my support in 2010, not because he voted for a stimulus bill, but because he voted for a bill largely created by über liberals such as Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and Charles (the tax cheat) Rangel. Had Obama kept his word and fought for a bi-partisan package that could have got the approximately 80 votes in the Senate, then Specter's support for such a more balanced measure would be understandable.
All Specter, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins have accomplished is to put the Country another $800 billion in debt for a program that will at best be only marginally beneficial from an economic standpoint; at worst will limit future stimulus options because of a reduced ability to borrow and in any event, will result in billions for redistribution of income and a host of other social spending-type programs.

And on top of that, Mr. Specter also helped to usher in the era of socialized medicine through the back door. The socialized medicine that, if in place today, would have killed my son at birth because he was too expensive and not really worth it.
My understanding is this so-called "stimulus" bill is 1400+ pages long. NO ONE has read this in entirety and NO ONE understands precisely what is in it.
It probably makes sense to limit bills to no more than 100 pages…….to give the representatives and the electorate a fighting chance to read it before they are asked to vote on it / before it becomes law. This is insanity.

I would consider myself more moderate than most Republicans on here, but I plan on voting against Specter in the primary as I did in 2004.
Roddey might be on to something… Gerlach would be an interesting pick to run against Specter. While not conservative, he looks conservative compared to Specter. He could very well peel a decent chunk of Arlen's base off in SEPA while being able to fundraise and win the general.
Sorry but I don't want someone that looks conservative. I want someone that IS conservative. Will not vote for Snarlin no matter who else is on the ticket.
How can he make that claim. He hasn't read the whole bill. He doesn't know everything that's in it.

The theory is that Arlen's support in the Philly area finally went Democrat with the Obama election and is going to stay that way. Roddy isn't much of a Conservative, so what is so brilliant about him backing another country club RINO. Roddy bought two stadiums the voters rejected, so he ranks low on the list of Conservatives in SW Pa.
Hard to think of Rep. Gerlach as Limited Government Economic Freedom conservative Defense Earmarks 2008,actually, exceed Dem. US Rep Allyson Schwartz http://crnblog.org/?p=1463 and http://crnblog.org/?p=1466 Senators Casey and Specter are very impressive http://crnblog.org/?p=1471 and http://crnblog.org/?p=1461. While we pound Sen. Specter, it might be good to remind ourselves of the Democratic Senator's fiscal record. It does the Economic Freedom conservatives no good to replace Sen. Specter with a Democrat, even a pro-life Democrat.
Hard to imagine Mr. Roddey endorsing a conservative. He's just too enlightened.
